For me, it depends upon the game I'm Playing, and the Console, I have no one favorite, but if I had to pick best all-arounder

Atari 2600 - "The BOSS" Joystick that I've been told was a Commodore 64 Item, it's a grey and black pistol grip job with a white button on the top of the handle. I had one that I found in electronics class in high school, and made my own bottom section for out of wood and duc-tape using a router and a bandsaw, and re-wired it to an Atari 2600 joystick (yes, I know how to make my own Atari 2600 controllers).

NES - Nes Advantage or the original Control Pads in general, I usually prefer the Advantage for games like Dragon Warrior, mostly because I set up the Turbo to speed through menus and stuff during boring parts of the game, or if I'm replaying a part that did not get saved. I prefer the control pad for side scrollers, I've never used the "dogbone" controller. I also like the look of the original grey Zapper Better.

For Playstation I have a beat up old analog control pad I picked up at a thrift store for $1. That's been my favorite since I got it.

Everything else I use the stock controller on, especially the SNES, there's never been a better controller than the SNES joypad.

Anyone here ever had a SPECIFIC one out of a lot of controllers that were technically the same that they picked. I remember a time when I could identify my NES control pads by the scratches on them, and I had a particularly beat up and scratched to hell NES pad that I prefered to use because it seemed a little more responsive and comfortable to me than the others for some reason.

My favorite controller is the Xbox S controller. Every other controller I've used makes my fingers sore after awhile and there are times where I'd miss the buttons. But the S controller feels natural, doesn't get my fingers sore and I realized after awhile that the button layout is very ergonamically placed. Basicly it's the most comfortable controller I've ever used, so much so that I didn't even realize it until I switched controllers.

The S pad has one huge critical flaw in its ergonomics: the placement of the Black and White buttons. The 360 pad replaces them with two easy-to-reach shoulder buttons, making it far superior.

yep would defintely agree here. The 360 control feels natural and for some reason I prefer it to all others I have encountered 8)

Hate me all you want, but the fat boy xbox controller is my current favorite controller. I know most people in the world despise it, and hell, even Microsoft does because they revamped it to the controller S, but I just hate the S. My ideal controller would have 6 buttons in same style as sega genesis, 4 triggers like PS2, and dual clickable analogs.

The fat boy is the closest since it has 6 face buttons but 2 triggers (and yes i know N64 had that also but they were shoulder buttons not triggers, unless you count Z). I like the fat boy controllers cuz I loved Dreamcast controllers and they are close in style just with only 4 face buttons. But my idela controller would be as i mentioned before, I don't know why they didnt do that with 360, people can easily handle 2 more buttons and it'd be very helpful.

My favorite hands down is the PSOne/PS2 controller. It fits fine in my hands and has just the right amount of buttons for anything, really. That transfers over to the game pad I recently got for the PC which is the same design minus the analog sticks (which I don't need for the comp anyway). The style pretty much matches the NES, SNES, and GBA perfectly for my ROMs and is flawless for my PC version of FFVII.

So until I get my hands on a Wiimote and see how that handles, PS is the top.

Thinking about it I would have to agree, the black and white buttons did take some getting used to and I would prefer them as shoulder buttons. Alas, I do not currently own a 360 and haven't had to much time behind its controller except with demos at stores so I wouldn't know from experience.

I always liked the NES controller...nice and simple. I play on my cousin's XBox, and there are like 17 buttons.
The transparent blue PSone/PS2 controller is nice, too...cause I like transparent, blue things.
I am deranged, but so, so playful!

                          Nintendo

                          NES

i've used sms, smd, nes and snes and didnt like the sms controller because of no pause button on thecontroller and the snes controller isn't actually handy if you have big hands

Playstation one style controllers. 8 buttons of pure unadulterated fun.

Out of all currently available controllers, there's only one I like even better than the SNES controller:

The small style Sega Saturn controller. Sleek, stylish design. Fits the hands nicely. Six action buttons on the face (perfect for Capcom-style fighting games) and two shoulder buttons. Extremely responsive. Features probably the best, most comfortable D-pad ever made.

Microsoft, pay attention. You actually CAN place six buttons on the face within easy reach of the thumbs!

I use that for all my fighters. I wouldn't use any other, except maybe a joystick.
