I'm getting really excited about the upcoming Ultimate Alliance game (Silver Surfer as a playable character OH GOD YEAH), so I thought I'd ask what are all your favourite Marvel games.

I really like War of the Gems on SNES, because it's based on one of the coolest comics cross-overs ever: The Infinity Gauntlet.

I also like X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. Just a great SNES platform beat-em-up with some great 90s X-Men characters.

Here's one for the list of stinkers, though: Captain America and the Avengers on NES. Pretty crappy gameplay, boring levels that go on for ever, bad storyline. Plus it should have just been called "Captain America and Hawkeye", cos those are the only playable characters.

1.MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2- new age of heroes
2.MARVEL VS. CAPCOM- clash of super heroes
This isn't a surrender, this is what in the military we call a total a$$ kicking

X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse for the SNES is pretty cool.

          Good topic!

I still have Mutant Apocalypse, That was one of the first games you could play as Gambit.

Some of the others I liked were the arcade co-op's of X-Men as well as The Avengers (I'd love to buy those cabinets if I ever get some extra money).

Maximum Carnage and Spider-Man were great for the SNES.

I even liked Wolverine for NES, even though it was damn hard!

Marvel's been pretty lucky when it comes to video games. 8)

EDIT: Sega had great X-Men Genesis and Game Gear games as well.

I think your thinking of X-Men and Spider-Man in Arcade's Revenge which starred Gambit, Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops, and Spider-Man.

That was a HARD game!

The only levels I could beat were Spider-Man's and Wolverine's.

That's the one I mentioned above (It was originally an arcade game) That was also super hard! You could be Vision, Hawkeye, Captain America, and Iron Man.

Red Skull was tough as hell!

Maximum Carnage is the only relatively good game that springs to mind. A bit too difficult due of artificially beefed AI, a bit too short, and could had used more variety, but on SNES you'll be struggling just to get to the end. Can't remember how many times I had to use quick-save/-load simply because the bosses had moments when they were immune to everything you did.

The music is great, though, and it has some feeling. Plus, you can play as Venom instead of that wimpy Spiderman.

that 8 player x-men game was my allll time favorite. it was so insane at my arcade b-day parties cuz 8 of us would all be playing and it was chaos. I loved all the x-men fighter games, marvel vs. capcom 2 being my favorite, but childrne of the atom and xmen vs street fighter was great, so was war of the gems and dont forget Marvel vs Street fighter which had different guys than xmen vs street fighter with some similarities, and marvel vs capcom 2 obviously being the culmination of most if not ALL of the characters from xmen:children of the atom, marvel super heroes, xmen vs. street fighter, marvel vs. street fighter, and marvel vs capcom.

I only talk about it now cuz at work (game crazy) i play my copy of MvC2 for PS2 like every single shift, it's just too fun. Kind of sucks though cuz the game is rare so customers see me playing it but can't get it in store, i've only ever seen 1 more copy traded in and it was just the game, no case or anything.

But I loved them all from childrne of the atom to MvC2, I've played them all, have tons of fond memories of me and my friend at an arcade in New hampshire when we went to his family's trailer up there in the summer (we live in RI) and there's an old arcade and we spent tons of money trying to beat damn Magneto but he always flew in the air making it harder to get at him. The bastard.

EDIT: Don't forget, for PS2 the Street Fighter Alpha anthology comes out, it has Street fighter alpha, alpha 2, alpha 2 gold, and alpha 3, PLUS Gem fighter mini mix (Puzzle fighter) all in 1 for $30, comes out tomorrow. I for one cannot wait cuz I loved those games too.
