apparently, sony was going on a completetly different path from nintendo:

so my question is....why does this justify sony's apparent lack of hardware design??

I don't think they lack in design they just testing it and want it perfect before they bring it on the market as a whole new system. I mean the eyetoy was good but if you lacked light it sucked. So I think this is the way for Sony on testing their hardware and it's design

the thing ia that for some reason, the ps3 look exactly like the revolution, has the same controller setup and features and etc...it seems to me like sony got their hands on this stuff. the rumors have been flying by, but ive been following this stuff for a long time, including some of my favorite webcomic artists. the fact of the matter is that they look too similar and have too many of the same features

My only issue with the motion sensing stuff was that Sony apparently made a comment about how they didn't need to be "gimmicky" like other controllers, making reference to Nintendo's motion sensing controller. And then they did it themselves.

Sony also made a comment about the 360 having two price points, and lo and behold, the PS3 has two price points. I wonder if the people at Sony actually talk to each other before making cracks...

Let's take things further, and make two versions of the Wii:

                  1. Core version, all things needed to run the Wii, no progressive scan, internet will be an addon, as well as flash sold seperately.

                  2. Full version, one (or two) included flash cards, included internets, progressive scan port and cables

That article was most likely not talking about the PS3 version of the Dual Shock, as the tilt sensor in the Dual Shock 3 was a last minute addition not even known about by most developers. Had it been a long-term plan, Sony would have wanted developers for the platform to be able to take advantage of it.

Also for those under the impression that the PS3 controller is like the Nintendo Wii controller, it is not. The Dual Shock 3 features a gyroscopic accelerometer or "tilt sensor" much like the one used by Kirby's Tilt'N'Tumble or Wario Ware Twisted for GameBoy. That's all it does, nothing more. The Wii remote has a tilt sensor and 3D positional detection. You cannot swing the PS3 controller like a sword, for instance, because it has no idea where it is, only what direction it's being tilted in.

                        1. it was known by developers. Sony got a glimpse of the controller last year and decided they needed to incorporate some of the design for themselves. thats the blunt truth.

                        2. i find it funny you have to list nintendo games in order to give examples.

                        3. the fact of the matter is that Sony unveiled all their stuff AFTER nintendo did, so the similarities in design and features is too uncanny to ignore. I smell rotten monkey, and it isnt me....

The funny thing is, I've never considered the PlayToy to be a real console. You don't buy a console to play DVDs. You buy it to play games.

Sony is really young in the world of gaming and I was really hoping that PS2 would bomb back in the day. Actually, I wished the same thing for Microsoft. I refuse to buy anything from either one of those companies. Now I REALLY don't support Sony because Thomas Haden Church is going to be in Spiderman 3. He is the lamest actor ever.

I'm a SEGA and Nintendo supporter. Nothing compares.

Dude, there were even people at Sony that didn't know about the sensor. Sony was still fighting to keep rumble support (another Nintendo innovation, which they supposedly had to remove to allow tilt detection) in their controller until just recently when they lost their last appeal in the patent lawsuit. The only game to support it right now is Warhawk which is being developed very closely with Sony, and even that doesn't appear to work very well. No other developers appear to have been aware of it.

EDIT: and here's the proof: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3150702
Incognito had less than two weeks to implement the tilt function into Warhawk.

Absolutely. You've misunderstood me completely if you think I was defending Sony at any point. My point was that not only did they try to rip off Nintendo, but they did a really sucky job at it as well.

SONY is and will be number 1 for a long time. nintendo has been a little kids system ( except for re4 ) for the past five years. I don't get it with some of you people on this board, are you that jealous of sony have they hurt you with such a great system and games that you need to spread that much hate. I was a huge nintendo fanboy until I got my hands on the playstation, and have not looked back for the past ten years. Sony has made mistakes but not as much as nintendo you know the " kidde ride " system. OH! hows that online play doin on the gamecube.

Let's say by the year 2020 and Microsoft, much less Sony, will be no more.

                                    What then ?

Time will tell. Nintendo wiped the floor with everybody at E3. People waited in line for more than four hours to play Nintendo's games. Sony's lines were less than 30 minutes long. If you weren't as attached to the Sony brand as you're accusing everyone else of being to Nintendo, or if you weren't worried about it, you'd have no reason to come in here and post unsubstantiated flame bait about it. Heck, if Sony wasn't worried themselves, they'd have no reason to do a quick and lousy job attempting to rip off Nintendo's controller.

so ur saying you hate nintendo?

we have a reason to not like sony at the moment. most of us here at retrojunk love nintendo because back in the day, it was da bomb. and it will always be about back in the day because this is retrojunk! so for us fans of nintendo, we take offense because weve loved it when it first came out, so we support our favorite running video company like we have for the last 22 years.
and did you know that nintendo started sony in the industry in the first place? you should be giving nintendo full props for any gaming you do in the first place.

                                        Wikipedia:

Nintendo approached Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on, tentatively titled the "SNES-CD". A contract was struck, and work began. Nintendo's choice of Sony was due to a prior dealing: Ken Kutaragi, the person who would later be dubbed "The Father of PlayStation," was the individual who had sold Nintendo on using the Sony SPC-700 processor for use as the 8 channel ADPCM sound synthesis set in the Super Famicom/SNES console through an impressive demonstration of the processor's capabilities....
...In 1991, the SNES-CD was to be announced at the June CES. However, when Hiroshi Yamauchi read the original 1988 contract between Sony and Nintendo, he was furious. He deemed the contract totally unacceptable, and secretly cancelled all plans for a joint Nintendo-Sony SNES CD attachment"

in other words, sony screwed nintendo. and thats why nintendo is golden. thats why nintendo fans are right. thats why we hate sony. sony is evil. period.

what you said does not change the fact that nintendo is a kid system, and I'm not new to the video game world I know all that stuff about sony and nintendo being involved. Just admit that nintendo gears it games to eight year olds and has almost no third party support and we can call it a night, but you guys cant't cause kiddie-grade nintendo is all you got! move on sony has the games mgs4, ff13 I only need to name those two cause thats all sony needs to put the final touch on making nintendo into a developer only just like sega!!!!!!
