Luckily, there are a lot of new game properties coming out soon.

Too Human, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Ninety-Nine Nights, Gears of War, Spore, Elebits, Red Steel, Sadness, Necro-Nesia, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Project HAMMER, Assassin's Creed, Heavenly Sword, Huxley, Hellgate... I know there are several others I'm forgetting at the moment. Most of the new properties are focused on Wii or 360, probably because of how insanely expensive it is to develop for the PS3. If developing a game is going to take as much investment as it takes to make a PS3 game, you don't want to take any risks. The other two systems are a lot cheaper to develop for and therefore lower risk for new ideas.

The horror/zombie games out of what I mentioned are Dead Rising (action-horror-comedy), Sadness (survival horror), and Necro-Nesia (survival horror). Dead Rising (and Lost Planet) also happen to be from the creator of Mega Man :D

Fixed. VII = 7 I don't think there was ever a rumor of remaking FF VIII.

Dragon Quest Swords Being a Dragon Warrior/Quest fan, it seems like you'll use the wiimote like a sword to fight monsters, sounds great.

Shadowrun This game looks to change or renovate the FPS genre just by adding magic.

There are so many games to look forward too, I know I'll have to narrow it down because of schedule. Right now I'm leaning more towards Wii just because I can always count on Nintendos first party games and most of the games seem like they'd really be fun, but I'm also thinking of choosing the xbox360 and focusing my attention and skill on Shadowrun and Huxley. Time will tell what I finally decide.

Oh and I never really got the appeal of the FF series.

So the Heretic/Hexxen trilogy doesn't count anymore? ;)

Shadowrun is also an RPG, but RPG/FPS hybrids have been done before too.

Err, not quite. The technology involved is impressive, but I didn't see anything in the gameplay to set it apart from all the other FPS games out there. Being able to blow up trees is nice and all, but I'll just wait for this technology to get picked up by a group that makes games that are more interesting to play than Far Cry was.

mrs.link, I'm not sure playing any version of a Zelda game that's in 3D quite qualifies as oldschool ;)

CRYSIS os awesome! the difference from other FPS's is the COMPLETE freedom of movement. if there is a door, you can open it and go inside. plus, no health bars or boss fight bars or anything! just pure shoot and pray it takes him out! just like regular warfare. CRYSIS brings the total warfare realism to a a new level with lifelike environments and people and physics and graphics that BLOW UR MIND! 8)

That's just the thing. I don't really care about that. I'm more interested in coherent streamlined design, not sandbox freedom and realism. Besides, you said everyone anticipates Crysis... and I just don't. You can't argue with that.
