I need to get a shout out from some of my fellow Bubble Bobblers out there. If you are smelling what I'm cooking whenI reference the E-X-T-E-N-D bubbles, then I gotta hear from you. If you are one of the few brave souls to have witnessed the "Happy Ending" then hit me up. Bubble Bobble, greatest game ever? I have heard the argument made.

Bubble Bobble was a fun game, never passed it though. I also liked a game almost in the same genre called Solomon's Key.

By the way, did you ever play Puzzle Bobble a.k.a. Bust a Move that was a fun game too.

Yeah, I remember there being almost as many variations of Bust a move than there were Street Fighters!

Just thinking about the game gets the theme song stuck in my head, thanks a lot!

Bubble Bobble isn't even CLOSE to the best game ever... not in the same league. Yes, it was fun... and yes, it ranks up there as a fun diversion since it's simple to pick up, hard to master...

...but I honestly had a lot more fun with Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) for just about every system out there (I think there were a couple dud versions). The best I think I liked was on Dreamcast, and worst might have been on Gameboy Advance. Those, especially the puzzle/adventure mode, are the most fun & one of the top 10 puzzlers out there (with numerous rip-offs).

I remember the arcade console was displayed at my former "school" rec room. I enjoyed playing on it. That was the same thing that playing the game on NES. At least, that "school" was only good for that... and also for having me a free cartridge of Legend of Zelda for NES.

It's pretty much fun, but gives me these little "aches" when I remember with whom I used to play with. Long gone, all of those...

I haven't been able to beat the game completely without cheats (read: save states on emulator). I could beat the shorter version but I find it too hard to get the secret item in that certain level in a 2-player mode. We played it with my girlfriend so that we saved the game at the beginning of that level and tried to get to the secret item (or door or whatever it is). We tried it so many times but finally did it.

I don't trust those rarity guides that much. You can get Bubble Bobble from ebay under $10 right now. Highest price would be a bit under $50.

Here in Finland they pay at least 30 euros (it's about $30 also) from a loose copy.

I know Bubble Bobble is quite rare but not that rare. I bet no-one would pay that much of it. You must remember that the cost of things depends on how much people are ready to pay for it. It doesn't depend on what someone has written of it.

Mr. Gimmick would be more like that valuable.
