he's much easier in super punch-out!!

And yes, sandman was created because Nintendo didn't think they'd want to fight a loser, because iirc Tyson got in trouble for rape around that time, also he lost a boxing tourney.

It wasn't because of the rape charges; those did not happen until 1991, and the Punch out game with Mr. Dream in it came out in 1990. The reason why Tyson got the boot was because he lost his champ title when James "Buster" Douglas dethroned him in 1990 of that year. This is also resulted in Tyson's contract with Nintendo to be slashed for losing. That's why The Dream fellow was made. If your curious to know, he fights in the same manner as Tyson does in the game, being the only obvious difference is he's white.

Actually Nintendo didn't cut the contract. The original contract had run out in 1990, and instead of financing another contract in order to release the game, they decided that his loss to Buster Douglass and some of the character "issues" he was having made going after another contract not worth it.

What I find funny is how much of a machine Buster was when he took out Tyson but after he won the belt, he became a total out of shape slob and no one ever heard from him again.

Didn't he have his own Genesis game?

Wow I just dug out and played through this game on saturday. This is the only time I remember not having a loss until Super Macho Man. I lost to him once then beat him. Then lost to Mike once and then beat him. It's funny because back in the day I played it for months before finishing it. And here I picked it up years later and it took me about 1 1/2 hours.

Its all about the hand-eye coordination. Who says video games taught us nothing.

I beat most of us could catch a fly with our fingertips and type 120 words per minute because of all that "wasted time" spent gaming. 8)

I saw the Tyson/Douglas match on ESPN Classic a few weeks ago, and Buster Douglas looked like a tubby, out of shape person when he beat Tyson. Tyson just looked slow and tired during that fight.

You may be right, I hadn't seen that fight since I was 8 or so (My Dad made me watch because he's a huge boxing fan). I always remember Douglass in shape (but things you remember as a kid are not always true as an adult) I know that Tyson was definetly out of shape for sure.

Link, Piston Honda the second time around? I think the best way to beat him is to use the same method you used to beat him the first time.

When he does his fruity little hop hop hop (this time he recovers quicker) Hit him in the face right before he's about to hit you. Kind of like with Bald Bull only you hit him in the FACE not the STOMACH.

Isn't Soda Popinski one of those guys you have to punch/counterpunch on? Like, you hit him, he tries to hit you, you block, and score a good hit?

And I too, have beaten Mike Tyson, only through the virtue of TKO. Has anyone knocked him out?

Right now I'll go try Bald Bull, though and report back in a half hour or so.

Mostly its just the same punch to the gut routine when he does his bull charge you used last time, only he's a lot faster this time around.

Definetly a lot harder, it took me awhile to defeat him.
