Introduce yourself in the say hello thread and welcome to Retrojunk! :D

Punch-Out is in my top 10 list of greatest video games ever made!

The SNES one was fantastic as well, Its damn time for an update of this game on a new console.

Sandman was a bitch, But Super Macho Man was even worse- Nothing more fearsome than a nipple flexing, roid raging, washed out movie star for a boxer.

Yeah me and my brother used to have contests on who could beat him the fastest. I think we got down to 30 seconds or so.

God, I loved those characters- Soda Popinski, Piston Honda, Bombay Tiger. In the PC age we live in they'd get bent out of shape about every stereotypical character in the game. But those were some daman memorable characters.

Check out the NESkimo's re-mix of the music from the game, good stuff.

Link, It's all about timing. Just punch him in the mid section a few seconds before he's about to hit you during his "Bull Charge".

Alright! Pro Wresting! Great F'in game! Are you talking about the one with King Karn, Amazon and the biggest bad-ass of them all- Star Man! 8)

I loved the move where Star Man could flip upside down 360 degrees in the air and kick the opponet to the face. Gotta love the crazy 8 bit fighting graphics.

                Addictive music too! lol

I used to like that game in my NES era. I could never get past Bald Bull cause of his damn bull charge. And I belevie I only got to Mike Tyson a few times, either because of Game Genie codes, or my brother. In those cases though, never could beat him. That eat-biter is hellva tough.

I use to play it once everyday for about 7 or 9 months straight right when I get home from school, it was sortof my meditation I guess. I'd start from the beginning and go through it until I defeated Tyson. Than I'd go off and do whatever it is I was planning to do that day.

It was easy to learn the patterns but I always had problems with Super Macho Man. Tyson was easier for me for some reason. Just watch his feet or his eyes!

i hate to be the geek that burst your bubbles...but sandman wasnt in Mike Tyson's punch out....Mike tyson was. Sandman was in a different variation of punch out.
Dude, chicks are like voltron, the more you hook up the better it gets-Tucker (red vs blue)

he's much easier in super punch-out!!

And yes, sandman was created because nintendo didn't think they'd want to fight a loser, because iirc Tyson got in trouble for rape around that time, also he lost a boxing tourney.

Actually he WAS in Punch-Out he was the black dude from Phildelphia. Your confusing Mr. Sandman with Mr. Dream (who replaced Mike Tyson after the trial).

I didn't even know released another version on the NES with sandman as the last character. I always played Mike Tyson's Punchout! I do remember playing the regular Punchout in the arcades though with the see through little Mac.

It has always been called "Punchout!" around here and Tyson was the last boss in it. Damn annoying when there is like two second blink when you can score and when you can score his previous attacks have drained all your stamine (=no hitting). Beat him twice, though, before losing interest.

It wasn't because of the rape charges; those did not happen until 1991, and the Punch out game with Mr. Dream in it came out in 1990. The reason why Tyson got the boot was because he lost his champ title when James "Buster" Douglas dethroned him in 1990 of that year. This is also resulted in Tyson's contract with Nintendo to be slashed for losing. That's why The Dream fellow was made. If your curious to know, he fights in the same manner as Tyson does in the game, being the only obvious difference is he's white.
