Just a lil personlity trait they added in. I dunno if it was in the comics, since I never read them before.

Sonic ate chili dogs in a few of the Archie comic's series and he even said that chili dogs were his fav food. I think it is an alright character trait, heck Mario's favorite food is supposed to be pasta and he's italian. No surprise there.

I love Sonic's games, but compared to Mario he's had the wrost gimmick marketing with lame cartoons and comics.

The only good Sonic cartoon that has ever been is the ABC one. Sonic X in the beginning had promise but it got really, really, really, really boring towards the end of the first season and the start of the second season when they brought Shadow into the story. I think his story was very boring indeed. Give me the continuity of the ABC show and the classic Sonic games over the new stuff any day.

Correction, I take that back. There was very good Sonic anime. It was a movie that came out in the early 90's. He and Tails had to save a princess from marrying Dr. Eggman while take down a Sonic android from destroying the planet. That was the only Sonic cartoon I liked. I've seen most of the American versions on the internet, just for evaulation reasons but they never appealed to me. Not because I'm bias, I just wasn't feeling it because so much was changed.

I did like Knuckles from season one of Sonic X. He was depicted exactly as he should be until season two when he started blushing around girls and such. He should have stayed dark and gruff, that is what makes him cool.

The cartoon I saw the most of and liked was the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. It seem to get a lot of flak, but I enjoyed it. SatAM I was never up early enough to see. Hell, I think I only saw one on TV and the others on VHS. Sonic Underground I only saw part of an episode and turned it off when they had a sing-along. Sonic X I never gave a chance as it's built off the junk from the new games. Finally I tried to download the Sonic anime that was mentioned above, but it didn't download correctly. So far the only real taste I got of that is from Sonic Jam.

As for the chilli dogs, I know it was in the cartoons, comics, books, etc, but where it originated I don't know either.

the archie comics were cool, as was sonic the comic, i loved adventures of sonic the hedgehog and satAm, was both really, cool. Sonic X was appaling, with the exception of the episode when Sonic and shadow fought the ultimate choas, although super sonic should ahve been depicted better.

Chilli Dogs! was defo in the sonic the comic comics

The whole "Sonic likes chili dogs" thing was a Sega of America thing. It wasn't Sega Sonic at all. Sonic Team never established it as a character trait. The games are in a universe completely separate from the universe in the Archie/Fleetway comics, SatAM, AOSTH and SU. Yes, even Sonic X is separate from the games.

I didn't mind that Sonic liked chilidogs.

What I did mind, though, was that there were two thematically different Sonic cartoons, a funny one and serious one, and the geniuses that run the t.v. station decided that they would play both of them back to back.

Probably the same people that thought an American made Street Fighter cartoon would be a good thing.....
