Is late December 1979 80's enough? Have some TV Guide issues with toy ads. I can just scan them and e-mail the pics to you.

"2 Stores at 82nd and Foster". Heh.

I love seeing local stuff. I like to go through the archives of my hometown's paper at the library, to check out the old advertisements and such. I also found an article on the opening of one of the city's two malls, back in the 80s.

Also, I found this book at a flea market which was a trades and services directory for the city in 1985-86. It's cool to see which plumbers and electricians are still operating in 2006. And it's quite funny to find occupations which no longer really exist, like typewriter repairmen. I guess they all went into IT?

VHS tapes: ones from the early-mid 80's, preferrably a cable channel (doesn't matter what's on). I don't have any 80's TV Guides. The next one chronologically after that one is from 1995. I have one from 1964 somewhere, but it probably doesn't have any toy ads in it.

                        Here's an ad from 1802:

It's from a reproduction of the 1802 Old Farmer's Almanac. If I had the original, it'd probably be worth at least a million bucks.

EDIT: For those of you who don't know 19th century fonts, it says "JOHN WEST, at his Book-Store, No. 75, Cornhill, Boston, Keeps constantly for Sale, a well-assorted and large Collection of BOOKS, in every branch of literature. I think the name "10incher" refers to 78 rpm records, if not, he could make a good living in the porn industry ;)

I grew up in Portland too and Tom Peterson was the man to buy stuff from be it furniture or electronics. He used to give away the craziest things too if you bought something from him, like an alarm clock or a watch with his face on it. That was his deal, you buy something and you get something "free". He was such a character here. Infact he had to file for bancruptcy in the 90s, I think because he gave too much stuff away hehe. But he rebounded nicely and according to the IRS his wife now runs the show. Neways heres a photo of one of his clocks.
