any year that featured the SNES in its prime was a good year (this means you, 1991-1999, 2003 in Japan)

But didn't they stop making the games after the N64 hit the market? :?

no, games were still produced when the N64 hit the market, until 1999 (2003 for Japan)

Well I learn something new everyday here, thanks.

I think the best years of the SNES were about 1991-1995 or so until N64, Saturn, and PSX hit the market.

NINTENDO'S best years were in the early 90's with the SNES... but it wasn't the best era for gaming. Remember, in those days the game cartridges still cost $50.00 & $60.00 per game, maybe more (Zelda)!

With CD's & DVD's on the game disks, they can afford to keep the prices at $50.00 or even $20.00 for a decent budget title as well as lower them down to $9.99 as their flavor wears off.

Gaming's peek was in 2002 & 2003 with the system wars in full force. It's currently downhill now until PS3 & wii mark their territory, then it'll pick up again & hit a new peek. It's been that trend for just about every generation of hardware consoles.

In Donkey Kong Country 3, in the grandma kong's cave, she is playing an N64, and the mario 64 music is playing in the background.

The SNES. What a great system. That's pretty much all I play anymore. Best system ever.

I still got my old SNES as well. I actually like the fact that the games are 2d and not 3d. Am thinking about getting some more games off ebay.

Any recommendations? My favs are Zelda and Secret of Mana, and maybe Tiny Toons (have to get that one).

I liked SNES so much that when my brother was going to sell his console, I got my parents to buy it off him for my 12th birthday. This was 1993. I remember opening a huge heavy box that had the supernintendo, a few games, and a huge stack of power magazines. Unfortunately he had already sold a bunch of his games - like mario paint. I think I also got mario allstars that day. I remember me and my friend were obsessed with beating the lost levels, and we called the nintendo hotline to find out how many levels there were. Thats when I found out we were blacklisted for prank calling that number a bunch of times a couple years prior...but I blamed it on my brother and then the guy answered my questions.

Nintendo's best era was 1985 - 1996 for me. They just seemed to loose it once the SNES died and the N64 was released. Although things were starting to slow down for 16-bit systems in 1995...it was still a great year for the SNES, with games like - Mega Man X2, Donkey Kong Country 2, Yoshi's Island, Killer Instinct, Chrono Trigger, etc. And 1996 was a pretty decent year for the SNES too - Super Mario RPG, Mega Man X3, Breath of Fire 2, Lufia 2, Kirby's Super Star, Tetris Attack, Donkey Kong Country 3.

I love SNES. Still play it. I get dizzy when I try to play these new consoles. Too much 3D and sfx for me.
