My God, you people are young! I quit watching Nick after shows like "You Can't Do That on Television," "Don't Just Sit There," "DangerMouse" "Double Dare" "Count Duckula" and "Today's Special" went away for good. I actually did sorta like "Are You Afraid of the Dark," but I don't think there was another Nick original that I watched in the '90s... Come to think of it, most of the shows I cited weren't explicitly made for Nick either... Okay, you're not young, I'm old!

I'd say sometime between 1998 and 2000. They say Y2K didn't do anything, but I have a theory Y2K might have messed Nick up. :D

Seriously, when I watch my 8 hour Rugrats marathon tape from late 1994, I just see a beautiful network with wonderful programming. I think the same thing when I watch old Nick shows on Nick GAS (What's Left) like Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nick Arcade, GUTS, etc. Also, when I watch Double Dare on the Internet.

It all goes hand-in-hand with the four points to the downfall of society (I will mention this in detail in a different thread). The first blow to Nick was in 1997 when some of their first good programs went off the air. The biggest killer came with Y2K (The bug did not hit computers, it hit society) when a large amount of programs were dropped. The next blow came around 2003 when even more of the decent shows were taken off the air. The final blow that led to the next silent generation came in 2005, when the lesser Nick channels were taking off all old programs (Including Double Dare).

I'm not sure about "going downhill", but I think I personally just outgrew the station in general because in the late 90s, where I last watched Nick on a reg basis, there were still a few shows I liked, like say, Hey Arnold.

I still watch Nick with my cousin every once in a while. Seems the Klasky-Csupo shows are the ones I liked most.

There are a couple of things that does bug me about Nick though...too many Nicktoons on the station (not enough game-shows), and too many teen shows, like that Zoey 101 (think that's what it's called). Seems Nick lacks variety now.

Someone else remembers You Can't Do That On Television? HOLY *BLEEP*! I loved that show!

But I think I stopped watching Nick right around the time Doug got the axe. I stuck around after Ren and Stimpy because I thought it'd get a lot better, but sadly, that is never the case. Hopefully, the Powers-That-Be will put this horse to sleep, along with Cartoon Network and (dare I say it?) Disney.

I have a vague memory of "Rocko," but it wasn't a show that I ever watched. I think my daytime Nick-watching ended around 1990. "Are You Afraid of the Dark?," which I cited before, was on in prime time ("Snick," I believe is what they called their Saturday night programming). I guess around '94 I was taping "The Muppet Show" for my sister's kids off of Nick Jr., but I didn't watch any of the other daytime shows that all of you younger people are referring to.

Taken off in general. But some are starting to show up a couple of times these days.

Nick basically fell off when they got rid of Salute your shorts, kenan and kel, Original all that and replaced it with a schedule where a show such as jimmy neutron or whatever would be shown 20 times a day.

Well, since Nickelodeon is for kids they have to base their programming on what children would like to see. Most children are not nostalgic, therefore odds are they probably wouldn't enjoy the favorite shows of us 20+ folks. Plus there's the factor of having to keep everything on a basis of what's fresh and what's comming up next. For example: kids like games where peoples heads are getting blown off, so "Are you afraid of the dark?" probably wouldn't do much to disturb their sleep, probably more like help it. That's just kids for you though, and they really havn't changed all that much, I mean would we have sat through re-runs of Howdy Doody every morning? Ofcourse I appreciate the show now for it's noctalgic value, but as a kid I doubt a puppet and a mute clown would have impressed me very much. :)
