Knites 8 years 7 months ago Posts: 180	Hey all. I'm the author of Happily Ever After I and II and I've just submitted a new article for approval: A Change for the Better. It's about hero and villain transformation sequences. I'm looking for more ideas for articles. Any thoughts? :

Daniel85 8 years 7 months ago Posts: 1699	Plenty, but you can't have them. How about just writing a review of a movie or a cartoon/TV episode? Everyone these days is trying to write these massive features or 'best ofs', which get a bit boring after awhile.

I love those articles! lol, but I agree they seem to have become the anime/wrestling pariahs of the article section. Knites, Everyone here has their own writing strenghs, I think yours seems to be noticing trends in classic TV shows (especially animated. Some of my ideas, that haven't been covered- [u]Popular genres in shows of the 80's[/u] (ie: Movie to TV adaptions of shows like Rambo, Robocop, and The Karate Kid, etc.) [u]The merchandise extravanganza[/u]- MOTU, Thundercats, Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors, Silverhawks, MASK, just about EVERY show had a toyline. [u]The endurance that some shows still have in pop culture, today[/u]- And perhaps you could tie this with all the re-makes of 80's cartoons today like TMNT, G.I. Joe, and The Transformers. (they did one on the female centered cartoons but never the male driven ones) That's my two cents. Good luck!

Ipkiss 8 years 7 months ago Posts: 48	I like your articles Knites. I was thinking of writing an article but just wanted to know some things before I write one. Firstly I know this site is only for personal viewing only from retro junkies but what are the rules for submitting pictures and text to be written. What I mean is are you allowed to use any pictures you find that relate to the article that you are writing or do you have to ask permission from the webmaster? If so how do you go about doing it? Do you e-mail them asking for permission to use their pictures for your article. Or do you list where you got your pics when you write it and then leave it to the moderator to sort out? Thanks

Many of us formed our first celebrity crushes in the 80's and thus began the trend of the "type" of person we crushed on. Lets see if there are any similarities and why. Crushes can be both human AND cartoon. That should make things interesting. Personally, my first crush was Andre Gower from The Monster Squad. I remember crushing on him at the age of 7 and since then I have always liked the blond haired leading guy. As for cartoon crushes, my first would have to be Michalangelo from the Ninja Turtles, I know, I know, how can you have a crush on a 5 foot turtle? But give me a break I was 7! Knites 7 years 3 months ago Posts: 180	Well, Here were are at 12 articles, this time a Disney one. Since I spent so much time writing stuff primarily aimed at a male audience, I thought I'd try something different and write something for the ladies. You know, when I started writing for this site, I never thought I'd do this much. I hope everyone has enjoyed what I've written. On the other side of things, I've become alittle more direct and critical in my comment writing on other articles. I think it's just because I put a good amount af time an effort into my articles and when I read a piece of porrly written, poorly formatted tripe, I get irked. I'm turning into a grumpy old writer. At the same time seing people praise work that is clearly below standard bugs me too. I think I just need to care less and let the poor grammar and empty praise I see run rampant. It's not like I can change it. It's already posted. People read what they want to read. It doesn't matter if it's quality. Anyway, I just want to say how much I enjoy writing for Retrojunk. I'm so glad there is a place for the pieces I write. I don't know what I will write next. I thought I was fresh out of ideas at article ten. Who knows what the future holds. Peace out, Knites

Knites 7 years 3 months ago Posts: 180	Hey Alain, I just wanted to let you know your suggestion in my forum section--as insulting as it may be--materialized into an article. It was thanks to what you said and this bit I read a while back on Wikipedia about Retrojunk.com "Articles submitted from readers cover everything from music of the times to popular cartoons. Some criticism has emerged from a few members that many of the articles do not measure up in a professional and sometimes even an informed manner." So, I guess, I'm not the only one upset with low quality articles. I'm just willing to put my opinion out there. And before you judge me too harshly on how I criticized BS100, read this quotation from his first article (which is now on the Back Pages by the way): "5.the invinclibleiron man =on almost all of his comic book covers it shows him gettong his ass handed to him, nonthe less he always comes out on top at the end. as billionair industriolest(i just botched the spelling of that)he made the coolest costume ever!" See that last line? He knew he made an error and he still didn't bother to look it up and fix it! Tell me, is that what you really want for the articles here? Should that really be okay? Thirteen years old he may be, but that's just lazy. Yes, I make typos. In fact, I know my articles hold a typo or two or three. But let me assure you, it comes after a lot of proof reading and it really bothers me when I find them after I've submitted the work for posting. I'm not demanding perfection--only a fool demands perfection. I never say that in my comments. And I definitely don't expect it in the forums or the comment sections--places of passionate reply. I just want people to try harder in their articles? Is that really so bad? Yes I'm direct, but only because I see so many comment writer's praising someone's work, while completely ignoring the blatant and numerous errors that really shouldn't be there. To be honest, I've been noticing it for a while now and BS100's article was the straw that broke the camel's back. I try really hard to make quality articles for this site. Are you saying I shouldn't? That Retrojunk readers don't deserve it? That people who write articles shouldn't even bother to pick up a dictionary? They should just apologize mid-sentence and everything will be okay? I hope not everyone is so accepting of low quality articles or this site is in for some dark times indeed. Anyway, thanks for the idea.

Have you ever seen a man run with his tail between his legs (mods, it's an old expression if you haven't heard it before - it's not meant to sound so gross)? Look Knites, this is my public apology. I realize I was a bit harsh on you and for that I'm truly sorry. I was having an extremely bad day that day. Not that it's much of an excuse, but it's all I've got. Your rebuttal has left me very ashamed of my actions. I may not agree with the way you went about critiquing BS100, but you do have a right as a human being and you do put out quality articles. I'm looking forward to reading your next article. Maybe we'll find a common ground someday and become the best of friends; but until then let us always look to the skies in hopes that we may catch a glimpse of that billionair industriolest in all of us. ;-)
