I remember playing Sonic games and Madden football, I even remember playing that Ren & Stimpy game "Stimpy's Invention". I also own that Sonic Mega Collections Plus game for the PS2. I had a lot of Sega Genesis games until I gave them away.

The Ren & Stimpy games for Game Boy sucked, but the show rules! Long live John K.!

If you can get the ROMS on-line with ease... it's retro.

N64... after playing for awhile... you come to realize how pre-mature the 3D graphics really were! The fog, the lack of fingers on the characters, the blurry textures.

Sure, there was the occassional "wow" game, but even Conker's Bad Fur Day looks bad compared to the X-Box version.

Genesis, however, is complete retro & rocked when it was out. I bought it the day it came out w/out hesistation of the competiting TurboGrafix-16. The sound-chip was a little lame, yes... because of the limitations, and it had no true 3D graphics, but man... those games rocked. From Last Battle to Altered Beast in the first gen games to Alex Kidd, Sonic & oodles of others...

Sometimes the first gen games were the most memorable since most were popped up from SEGA's 1st party license.

Wanna talk about retro gaming? NES is where it's at. If I could take back one decision in my life, it would be selling my NES when I got a SNES. Man, I've regretted that for years. You can't even find them now unless you wanna pay big bucks.

Gameplay wise... story-wise... yes, 100% most definately...
Well... Paper Mario is just weird... but Conker, Star Fox, both Zelda's and many others ARE great "wow" games...

...but compared to today's graphics, they're not at all wow in looks... very few N64 games really look good stacked up to today's systems, yet a mere 6yrs ago, it was reaching just past climax. They're very boxy & polygony... not that it's bad... sometimes it really enhances the game.

...it's just ashame that the average price of a game was from $59 to $79 with some even reaching as high as $89!
...that's one major reason the cartridge died a horrible death.

I was and still am a NES and SNES man till I die. Now, I do have the original NES in storage, about 2 months ago my brother and I broke it to play some old school games and get in touch with our inner zen. About 45 minutes and still having a blue screen I remembered why the damn thing went into storage.

I was reading about how many NES's were inherently defective because the pin connecters from the system that connects to the game (I think they were in place to prevent piracy for the most part) got all messed up and as a resut you couldn't play the games and/or had alot of trouble doing so. I blew harder than divine brown on a Leeds supporter into those damn cartridges but alas no NES for me :x

So... I plugged in the SNES and OF COURSE the controller didn't work. Off to EBAY for me and I ordered two replacements and 3 days later I was in bliss playing Super Mario All-Stars and Mario World... Oh the memories flooding my brain of rainy saturday mornings and the neighborhood rats coming over and helping beat Medusa in Kid Icarus and knocking the wig off that jab throwing moax Don Flamingo. (even though that's NES, again ----> :x )

But anyway, NES was clearly better. This isn't an opinion this is verified fact proven by charts and graphs done by various vague agencies with important sounding names. You can take that to the bank on a Friday my friends.

I still play with all of my "retro" games. I have NES, SNES, SEGA, and a N64. My NES stays hooked up 24-7 at home because my mom plays Dr. Mario religiously. I have my N64 here at college and I pop in Diddy Kong Racing when I get the chance. I love the Jeopardy version for SEGA Genesis as well as the Sonics (esp. 3) and Lion King.

I was a little disappointed in Yoshi's story for N64 - it was TOO easy.

You know what the most difficult game I own is? It's got really crappy graphics, and the main character's only defense is jumping about half an inch in the air and throwing bricks in an arc. It's The Wizard of Oz! I can only rescue the scarecrow! I even had one of my ultimate gaming friends try to play it in highschool and he couldn't even get that far!

Remember the wrestling games? On the 16-bit systems, you had to keep mashing buttons in order to do moves (except for the Super Fire Pro Wrestling games on Super Nintendo). Nintendo 64's wrestling games wipe the floor with the PSOne wrestling games. On the first two SmackDowns, you had a choice of only three moves to put folks through tables, whereas on No Mercy, you could do whatever you wanted.
