Bit of an awkward subject title, I know, but it was hard to get the idea of the thread across in the limited characters allowed.

Anyway, what do you other toy collectors enjoy more: getting hold of a toy you used to have as a kid, or finally getting one as an adult that you really wanted, but never got, as a kid?

Yesterday I got a package with some Jurassic Park stuff I'd bought on eBay. Jurassic Park (along with Hook) is my favourite figure line of all time.

One of the things I got was this:

Which means a lot to me, because I got it for my birthday back in 1993, when Jurassic Park toys were the most important thing in the world to me and my best friend Brad. The car was awesome, and to finally have something for my JP figures to get around in was great. Unfortunately, I got rid of it in a garage sale like so many other toys.

The other thing I got was this:

This was the big kahuna of the JP toy line. I mean, it was the USS Flagg of Jurassic Park. When I first saw it on the shelf at Target, it was more than half the size of my seven year old frame. I used to love going to Target just so I could look at the thing. I also knew that never in a million years would I get that toy, because it was so expensive.

Yeah, so I've got it now through the wonders of eBay.

I've been trying to think of which acquisition is more important to me, and I think it's the T-Rex, cos of the great feeling I got at finally owning it.

What do you guys think is better: to reacquire something you had, or get something you were never allowed?

i still have all my other dolls though.

well Ruth Anne was always my true companion, but there was also a doll my favorite aunt made me. I called her Jennifer. and even though she developed a floppy neck and a big blue ink spot on her head, I still kept her.

sadly, my mom got into my trunk and threw away everything in it...thinking they were all musty. I felt guilt-ridden for a week before she did, I saved Ruthie, but I didn't take Jennifer. I'll never forget her.

I like finding toys that I used to love, Rainbow Brite dolls and stuff like that. There was this one little pink rag doll I used to have that I named Jewel...I really miss her. Also, there was this little purple dog with a music box inside it that I named Melody. I miss my toys

I tell you whats the best to me. Getting the toys now you wanted as a kid. Since I started collecting Star Wars stuff, Im getting a hold of stuff I didnt have as a kid but wanted. Ive lost some of my best SW figures somehow from when I was a kid. There is still hope that I might find them, but re-buying them is pretty cool because Ill have all the pieces to them again.

I think "the toys you loved" because they have sentimental value.

"The toys you loved," all the way! In fact, I have such an unhealthy love for my toys that I still have almost every one I've ever gotten. There were a few my mom sneakily sold in rummage sales.

As a collector, though, I buy toys all the time and love each and every one of them. Nothing, however, will EVER replace my originals.

What's better: a toy you loved, one you never had, or one you destroyed. Check out this article...

I'm mostly collecting the toys/books/things I once had, loved and eventually lost.
Getting them back (even though it's not the exact same one) is the best.
I reeeeeally wanted the My Pet Monster blue plush monster when they came out, but I never got one. I had a chance to buy it a year ago, but it just wasn't THAT important.
