There was a book that I read back in elementary school or so that I keep having flashbacks of once in a while...I think it had a lot to do with my current views of the world. Anyway, it's based in the future, and it's about the human race being controlled by these 'strider' robot things. They're shaped like hemicircles and have three or so skinny legs that are 50 to 100 ft. long. Once a person turns a certain age, these things show up and implant a chip in their brain that allows them to be controlled. The hero of the story is a kid that escapes and goes on the run, and the strider thingers are trying to hunt him down. Any help would be much obliged.
Damn, this post fell to the second page with no replies. You mean to say that will all you people that remember all this crazy stuff from the 80's, there's NO ONE that recognizes the book I'm talking about? Come on guys, I'm going to go nuts here.
Alright folks, since none of you knew what the heck I was rambling on about, I got off my ass and did my own research. The book I was talking about is called "The White Mountains" and it was originally copywritten in 1967 by John Christopher. The second edition was published in 1988, which explains how I remembered it from elementary school. Two sequels were published...."The City of Gold and Lead" and "The Pool of Fire", as well as a prequel "When the Tripods Came", released most recently in 1990.
