Better hurry, RadioShack filed for bankruptcy February 6th. Looks like more than half of the stores will close while consolidation of the higher grossing locations continue, maybe with a new partnership.

The last time I stopped by RadioShack was 2013.

If it wasn't for cell phone plans, they'd be gone for good. RadioShack has saved my butt a few times in the past with getting obscure components in a hurry. I miss the old days with 3ft tall RC monster trucks on display.

So apparently that campaign where they basically were saying "Hey! We ditched that 80's vibe everyone... so choose us instead of everywhere else" did not work. Didn't think it would. Like vkimo, I always went to RS when I needed a hard to find video component.

I tried applying for a job there a couple of times. Had no luck.

They failed to adapt, like Blockbuster. They already have a huge brand name, yet they still couldn't do what they needed to do to bring it in, kind of like the Seahawks...

              LOL! Beautiful Seahawks reference bklynbren.

RadioShack - the electronics store that failed in the age of electronics!
Like V-man said, cell phone plans gave RadioShack a few years of life but on my last visit all the store shelves of hard to find components had disappeared. It all looked like T-mobile to me.

No "80's" vibe and No R/C monster trucks on sale. Hey guys, RadioShack with no Fun is like no RadioShack at all.

              And so it goes!

No one will ever, ever, EVER give the Seahawks a break! Ever.

I liked having radio shack in my back pocket as a place to go to for any oddball electronics type deal, whether it be an unusual battery, some little gadget that you don't know where to find elsewhere (like a battery tester), some specific cable or connector, etc. However, I haven't even been IN a radio shack store in a number of years (I'm guessing around 5~10).
It's a shame though, since as a kid I had gotten a number of those little LCD games, some cheap RC cars, other assorted electronic toys/gizmos, a couple "XX in 1" electronic kits, and even my first computer (tandy coco 3) there.

I'm surprised Radioshack didn't shut down any sooner. It seems like after the digital age came along, Radioshack just hasn't been keeping up with the times as much... and for that, people started shopping at Radioshack less.

The place has been dying for years, but I can't say I haven't gotten any good stuff from there. Radioshack is where I got my DVD recorder that I've been using (and yes, it's the same DVD recorder shown in this video) and was available for $50, which was the best deal for getting such a device.

Of course, I've also had to deal with shit employees there as well. There was one time I was with a friend of mine, and one of the employees kicked us out because we claimed we somehow stank up the store... yet, when we'd be in the van with others, they would tell us that we didn't smell at all. And believe me, they would tell us if we actually did smell bad. It's happened before. So, we reported this guy the next day. I still don't know if anything happened, but I would hope he lost his job because of it.

I remember going to one a few years ago to buy a new prepaid cell phone that was on sale. It was the same company/plan as my old one, but when I went to pay for it the price went up about $10. It wasn't the tax because I had calculated that in too before I bought it. When I asked the cashier she couldn't explain why it cost more. Needless to say I didn't buy the phone.

I remember when I was a kid, you could go into Radio Shack and they had these bins of different sized magnets. It was something like 10 or 12 for a dollar or so. It was lots of fun.

I go to RadioShack anytime I need an odd battery for something. Unfortunately, the last time I was there, they didn't have the type of battery I was looking for. I was extremely disappointed.

Oh, Radio Shack where hast thou gone? I miss thee, please come back. It is sad to see RS slipping away. I shed a tear when I think of it. I remember when there walls were filled floor to ceiling almost. It was wonderful as a kid to go in and just look around.

The Radio Shack just closed down in my neck of the woods.
about a week ago I managed to "steal" the last of their inventory and go a pretty good deal on stuff. Coincidentally the Radio Shack was right next door to a Game Stop, so somebody is getting extra space. gonna miss that place.

There was a Radio Shack in Shoreline, the city north of Seattle. That store closed down back in January. It all happened so fast, I missed out on the closeout deals.

When a company tries to modernize it never works. You would think they would have learned from Circuit City. They should have stuck to their roots and capitalized on the popularity of drones. The cell phone store idea was a smart business move, but wasn't enough.

Of the 5 locations I know 3 are closed and one has the "Closing Soon" banner over the doors. Only the Seattle Downtown location is holding on.

I think they should have utilized the 80's ad campaign to PROMOTE their lack of modernization. "Hey folks, we haven't changed a thing since the 80's. So step back in time at Radio Shack."
