During Thanksgiving Day a local reporter in Seattle asked people to name their favorite holiday dessert. A woman from Alaska said, "I like strawberries in Crisco".
Crisco!
Think about this, most grocery store cakes are frosted with powdered sugar and Crisco with vanilla added. So I guess using Crisco as fluffy binder in a dessert is not out of the question.
"Eskimo Ice Cream" is usually made with fruit but you really can add anything you like. Akutaq can be sweet or savory depending on your preference.
