I've seen a lot of dogs given candy, especially chocolate.

Dogs can't digest chocolate the way we humans can and large amounts can make dogs very sick. Sugar is also a problem for dogs, so no candy bars for Fido.

I know its trendy to treat dogs like people but I've seen dogs get horribly sick too, so be careful everyone.

Yeah, I've heard candy can kill a dog. You wouldn't think something that eats its own poop would get so sick from eating candy, but its a real thing. LOL

Our dog eats poop all the time, and I was shocked when my girlfriend's cousin's dog came over our dog refused to eat the food they brought. He must prefer feces over generic dog meal!

We used to give our schnauzer most of the foods they say are bad for dogs because we didn't know any better. It never hurt him, but then again it was a small amount and every dog is different.

There are a lot of people that think any food other than dog food is bad for their dog. This is far from the truth. Dog food alone isn't enough to meet a dogs nutritional needs. They need things like meat, eggs, fish and veggies. So if you have table scraps and they are not one of the forbidden foods you should let them have it. Also you should feed them at least a small amount of can food in addition to their dry food.

I used to date a woman that fed her dog cookies, cake and ice cream. She told me that her dog eats people food all the time and has never been sick.

But like bassman21 says, dogs vary by breed and size. And the results of the wrong foods to a dog take time for the effects to appear. Grapes and garlic are even worst than chocolate and bread.

From liver poisoning to kidney infections, you may just get lucky and the poor dog gets a severe case of diarrhea.
