Halloween is already a month-long event now. I can remember when Halloween was exclusively for kids on the last day of October.

    But times have changed!

The best example of Halloween today is the Haunted House tour. From local origins at first, the Haunted House is now a nationwide seasonal must-see.

Some of the stand out Haunts include "Terror Behind the Walls" at the Eastern State Penitentiary in Pennsylvania, and Netherworld Haunted House in Georgia.

My favorite was the Haunted High School by the local kids in Seattle.

We have a couple of really cool attractions in this area. There's Ruby Falls Haunted Cavern (http://www.hauntedcavern.com/). It's been on a few national lists for best haunted houses. I've never been because you have to go WAY underground to get to it. I'm extremely claustrophobic, so the thought of that is scary enough for me.

We also have a local theme park that completely transforms in October to become this giant haunted house/Halloween experience. We go to it every year and it's always a lot of fun.

It wasn't during Halloween but I remember checking out the haunted attraction on the Queen Mary.

Nice! Haunted caves and haunted ships - why didn't I think of that?

Many venues require a professional touch to please the crowd. SeaWorld Entertainment has the "Howl-O-Scream" Event at Busch Gardens in Tampa, SeaWorld in San Antonio and Busch Gardens Williamsburg in Virginia.

And yet I still love the small, local haunts that pop-up around town.

They have a haunted tour, and a Halloween type event called Shipwrecked. Shipwrecked is only in October.

I noticed that Scream Town came up when I went searching for a haunted maze. Very nice website.

The L.A. Haunted Hayride gets more buzz every year. I think it's all the young couples that make a haunted park really fun!
