Turns out that a new independent hand-drawn animated feature film is in development. It's called Hullabaloo, and it's supposed to be a steampunk action-adventure. A lot of freelance animators, and a few former Disney animators that were laid off last year, are among the people working on the film. They're aiming for a wide audience for this project, and the only way they'll be able to achieve that is to get a distributor that can help them. I personally want Disney to distribute this film and support them on their quest. As I said in a previous article, one of the factors that made The Princess and the Frog not do well as it should have is because they tried to bring back the 2D animation art form on their own, and should have waited until a startup tried a hand at resurrecting traditional feature animation before the giant took a stab at it themselves. This could be their second chance. What I'm hoping to do with this petition is let Disney know about this project and give them support, just like they did with Pixar back in the 1990's. Sign the petition, this is our only chance to resurrect hand-drawn feature films once again!
