Not many people knew about the existence of this particular copy of Action Comic #1, but Darren Adams of Washington State has been sharing his story of how he came across what has been called "THE best copy of AC issue #1 anywhere".

While this summer of 2014 has been a bad news bonanza, the story of the rare comic book has been a real joy to learn about.

Darren Adams owns Pristine Comics located in Federal Way, Washington. When he took possession of this excellent example of AC#1 it was with the intention of selling it for a profit, Darren does not "collect" old comics to keep.

Feel sorry for the first person who sold that without knowing what they had.

The winning bid topped $3.2 million.

Darren Adams is quite a cool guy, he never intended to keep Action #1, but he did hang onto it longer than usual. He's a collector/reseller, that's how he makes his fortune.

It really is interesting to know that as these old comic books become priceless, only e-copies of them will exist for fans of old 20th century paper books.

For guys like Darren Adams this may be the best days as far as the collector's market goes. I don't think that future restoration versions of these classic comics will hold quite the same interest.

I wonder how much he got it for? The person who owned it obviously knew what they had and took a significant loss in selling it to a collector.

Imagine all the Mallo Cups you could buy for the same price.
