Sounds awesome to see Fox/Disney/Lucasfilm joining together for this as fans who claimed for the original unedited and untouched with a quality 3K or 4K film restoration scan and clean up to make the original cuts look like new on HD.

I'm very happy now that Lucas has retired and all that as he's no longer in control of his company as for the last decade he has tortured, butchered and keeps dicking around with the original movies and refusing to give us the original versions on DVD and blu-ray, i refused to buy the BD set in 2011 in protest until the original cuts are included as i care about film preservation and restorations. In 2012 when i heard Disney bought Lucasfilm and him retiring we can hear "Hallejuah" in our heads as he won't mangle the original trilogy anymore with stupid edits like Hayden instead of Shaw in the end of Jedi, Han not shooting first, Vader screaming "Noooo" at the end of Jedi.

Disney/Fox/Lucasfilm can make big bucks with BD owners/PS3 owners/PS4 owners and hardcore fans.
"Nobody wants to see vampire killers or vampires either! apparently all they want are demented madmen running around in ski-masks hacking up young virgins"-Peter Vincent from Fright Night.

Don't count on it yet. Fox owns distribution rights for the series. The rights for Empire and ROTJ will revert back to Disney in 2020. BUT the rights of A New Hope belong to Fox forever. Disney will negotiate a deal with Fox but it'll likely take a while.

I'd think Disney being the #1 entertainment entity and Star Wars being a guaranteed profit, a deal shouldn't be that hard. Although FOX is getting stuck by the guys at Marvel too.
