Rumor has it that Howard might appear in the end of Guardians of the Galaxy and that there might be a reboot movie of Howard The Duck to join the Disney/Marvel Cinematic Universe and possibly in an Avengers or Guardians movie.

Because everyone is clamoring for more Howard The Duck films. Seriously? No. Just... no, Hollywood.

Yeah, my initial thought on that was "this is stupid".

When the first GOTG trailer came out I said in another site that maybe it was time to consider doing a Howard the Duck movie "done right". Sadly if there is a remake it won't have Lea Thompson in her yellow panties...

Maybe Howard might not look so bad if he is in CGI.

I wouldn't consider the new Howard movie a "remake", remakes are only for based on original movies and original screenplays not based on any existing source material (comics/books/novellas), this is a separate adaptation just like The Incredible Hulk or Nolan's Batman movies were.

What if a movie is made to tell the same story again without considering existing source material in whatever other medium? Isn't that a remake?

CGI, hell no. This caulking agent is ruining everything. I always root for good ol' animatronics/puppetry but unfortunately is a thing of the past. I can appreciate CGI but they love to smear it all over the place and the end result is a movie or should I say, video game?.

But our technology is getting better now since Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Rocket Raccoon looks belivable.

WETA who did Avatar, LOTR, Rise of the Apes, Dawn of the Apes etc. can do Howard justice and make him look incredible in motion capture.

Yes technology is getting better and thats when I start to scratch my head. They can use this tech advances to make new models/puppets/costumes and make a movie like it should be.

CGI will not replace 'natural' light any time soon. A well made animatronics with the nowaday's advances will stump CGI anyday... then again artists will refuse to go behind a suit to cover their cute faces >>

Like Psycho 1998. Didn't consider the book at all for that one.

Powers that be want it all commodified. When you can do everything in a computer, you can do any thing in a computer. Physical craft requires much more specialized skill than sitting in an aeron clicking buttons. They rather have 1 person write the software, 1 person make the electronics, and 50 dorks to use the stuff, than have 10 people that can make the puppets and models and costumes.

Same why we have smartphones but not jetpacks or replicators.

Yep. You know, CGI is all good until too much bits n bytes start to run the show. I just want to see a movie not a video game.
Welp, I hope Jim Henson don't rock the grave too hard.

Well tough tits, CGI is here to stay as technology has improved with the new Planet of the Apes movies and others. CGI has improved even since Avatar as well.
