    Well this is a long shot but this is the best place to try it:

    I remember watching a really interesting documentary series as a kid about post dinosaur mammalian evolution during the Pleistocene.

    The show would always open with beautiful hand drawn animation that showed a dinosaur skull in the sand and a few rat like creatures nesting inside it, the episode would start by showing the evolutionary timeline of a specific subspecies and then the episode would commence with more of the hand drawn animation segments of said creature of the day, I remember watching dire wolves and giant sloths.

    Does anyone remember the name of the series?
