    		 I've hesitated asking this for years as I just don't think I have enough details and it was in my childhood and I'm not sure how to completely describe it. It was one of these where I was watching cable with my dad, he fell asleep and I woke up and this weird movie was on.

    It was the early-to-mid 80s. I think it was on HBO or Cinemax, and I think it may have been a short and not a movie.

    What I remember is a guy going room to room, and in each room there was something weird - almost as if someone was torturing him, but it wasn't torture per se, more like someone messing with him, like a man playing with a mouse in a labyrinth. Like the walls would start caving in on the guy (like the Star Wars scene) but he would find a way out and another room with another seemingly life-threatening thing. It seemed someone was controlling it, but you never saw that.

    The guy never spoke. It was like he was in a business suit (I think), which made me think he was trapped there (but I never saw how he got there). It was very dark. I can't remember each room, but each had some sort of struggle and when he got out of it he "rolled into" or opened a door into another room with another theme to it.

    In the end, he opened a door leading to the middle of a city in open daylight and that was the end of the film. I think the door shut behind him where he couldn't go back in (not sure though).

    And that was it.

    Again, I think it was a short - back when HBO would do these strange shorts (like a Close Encounter spoof) and would wedge it between features. But it may not have been - it may have been a movie on UHF for all I know (but I can't imagine how you could make a movie out of such material).

    This film was mesmerizing to me at this young age. My dad's asleep on the sofa, it's the 80s, ashtrays are everywhere, he had a cable slider box and I'm there in the middle of the night with the living room dark watching whatever weird thing was left on.

    Sometime in the 70s or early 80s.

    Does this strike a note with anyone? Or would anyone know a better place to ask this where people might know really obscure stuff like this with little good details?
