      		 In short,...
      they rid themselves of the previous time tested mascots
      to break away from their past, which was being increasingly seen as
      an unhealthy junk food restaurant and probably spent millions on
      child psychologists, PR experts, studies and the like only to fail epically
      to brand themselves as a trendy and don't forget, healthy hamburger
      restaurant.

      I'm not sure if Ronald is ever seen eating the food he advertises.
      He's more likely to be competing in some X-Games event. Their attempts
      to associate their product with a healthy lifestyle would be laughable if if
      wasn't targeted at children who's critical thinking skills were still developing.

      I respect BK's approach more. They created an intentionally creepy mascot
      and presented their food for what it was unapologetically.

                		 It's been on commercials for over a year in other countries. Minions and Rabbid-like things are lucrative, I guess.

                Still, it's better than that "Iam Hungry" guy they made in 1998 and quietly retired. That guy was a bad mix of a CGI-Langolier and a Chia Pet.

                    		 That was breaking new ground, though. And probably low budget. We're well past the point that a company as big and experienced as McDonald's should need to run through a few iterations before a new mascot isn't creepy.

                          		 Not sure how I feel about this guy. Hmmm. I don't find it to be creepy. But it's pretty lame. I mean really, how creative is it to put legs, arms, and a face on a Happy Meal box and call it a mascot. What happened to the really creative mascots like the Noid, Spuds MacKenzie, Spot, and the like? Well, I suppose in Spot's case, it's basically the same thing... but hey... at least he had sunglasses.

                            		 Totally, Ghost of Vapor. That's exactly what I was saying in another thread. I later thought about Cool Spot in that context and I decided he was OK, because he was the first. He had his own video games that actually weren't too bad. And when I was 9 years old, yes those sunglasses he wore were very, very cool.

                                		 Besides... what would be wrong with just taking existing mascots like Grimace and making them cuter and more animated. Why go this route? It makes little sense from a brand perspective, IMHO.

                                    		 I think Chik-Fil-A's Cow mascot is pretty bizarre. The cow writes in broken english, "Eat Mor Chiken!" Placing the emphasis on eating poultry so he doesn't get slaughtered. Although Chik-Fil-A does offer a sausage breakfast sandwich.

                                      I actually love those cows and their commercials. They always have
                                      those billboards across the Atlanta area advertising the cows. :)

                                        		 I don't really find the new McDonald's mascot to be that creepy to be honest. Really, as far as creepy mascots go, I don't think anything can beat Quizno's Spongmonkeys.



                                        Yeah, that's totally appealing and makes me want to go buy a Quizno's sandwich. Seriously, who the hell thought it was a good idea to abuse the liquify tool in Photoshop on a picture of a rat and make that their mascot?
