Great movie! i saw this 3 times in theaters even on opening day when i visited my dad in Omaha for 2 weeks and i cried when Willis sacrificed himself as it was a powerful moment.

    I enjoy Bruckheimer productions.

I thought it was garbage personally, but to each their own. Some people enjoy the film version of lobster and wine while others are happy with McDonalds hamburgers.

I cringed hard at this silly line: "Requesting permission to shake the hand of the daughter of the bravest man I've ever met."

This film still holds up in my book. The scene at the oil rig
where Harry gets all pissed and shoots a shotgun everywhere
            still gets me every time.

I don't really understand why this movie gets so much hate. Sure, Ben Affleck is a bore but Steve Buscemi is awesome in this and the concept is pretty cool. Overall, Armageddon is B-grade summer blockbuster, corny at times as expected. Plus, Aerosmith, come on guys!

I haven't seen the movie but I remember it being everywhere as it was heavily advertised. The song by Aerosmith got excruciating painful as it felt like torture hearing it every day for a few months on the school bus to and from school. According to BoxofficeMojo, the movie grossed $553,709,788 and the budget was $140 million.

Haven't seen it and I have no desire to. Hearing that damn Aerosmith song allover the place back then was irritating enough. To hell with all that maudlin dewey eyed bullshit and the horse it rode in on.

Definitely. That song played every single day back in 1998 and you couldn't escape it. The first few times were great but that song got old quick and I had to bear through it on the way to or from school on the bus.

I think Deep Impact was a better movie, a bit more serious.
Armageddon was the typical blockbuster film, filled with jokes, cliches, silly lines, etc. It was entertaining to watch once, but not a memorable movie.

Deep Impact was good, too. I have to agree that did have some heart
                            and emotion that Armageddon lacked.

It was a good movie. I always wondered what movie copied the other's idea though. Around that time, plenty of movies had very similar plots, copying each other, like Volcano and Dante's Peak.
