I miss when kids weren't bragging about their Xbox 360's.
I miss when a Tamagotchi was the thing to have as a school kid instead of Fun Loom bracelets.
I miss when you didn't need an iPad to be cool.
I miss booting up my old Windows 95 desktop every day after school.
I miss when food, books, candy, toys, electronics, and cars were cheaper.
I miss waking up early on Saturdays to watch Fox Kids.
I miss when kids' shows weren't fart joke laden.
I miss when music was catchier.
I miss when My Little Pony wasn't killed by bronies.
I miss VHS and floppy disks.

...or what's now the Xbox One. And I don't see that much kids talking about it so much more so than with the PS4.

I had to Google Fun Loom Bracelets to even know what you're talking about. That's the first I've ever heard about this. I never would think it's anything popular for kids, but if it is, it doesn't sound like that bad of a fad.

      People still use iPads?

      Cynical11 wrote:

Windows 95 is nostalgic, yes, but I honestly find Windows XP to be a far superior operating system.

I would not remember any of that. Though candy and toys doesn't feel that expensive to me.

I was more of a Kids WB viewer in all honesty.

      Cynical11 wrote:

Yeah, because our kids shows in the 90s TOTALLY didn't have fart jokes. Ren and Stimpy anyone? Also, isn't there less kids shows now that have been using fart jokes compared to a few years ago?

      Cynical11 wrote:

There's still plenty of catchy music being produced today. I don't really find it to be any more or less "catchy" than it was in the 90s.

Ugh, yes, I agree with that all the way. Like I said before, My Little Pony is a show designed for little girls, and it should stay that way.

      Cynical11 wrote:

Oh sure, VHS may be good for nostalgia and watching old TV broadcasts and video previews, but that's really it. We already moved forward in technology with DVDs, DVRs, video streaming, media viewing on our computer, etc. Why the hell would I want VHS to come back in this day and age.

Same with floppy disks. There is absolutely ZERO use for them now that we have flash drives and SD cards that can fit in your pocket wherever we go, and on top of that, can hold far more date than floppy discs did, which only holds megabytes. The only thing I'd use floppy discs for is to play some old MS-DOS games, and even then, I can load that straight from my computer. With all the technology we have, why would I want to go back to any of that?

This whole thread is nothing more than more old fartdom, and another piece of "WAH! WAH! WAH! I want the old days back!"

I miss being a carefree kid more than anything. Its true what your parents tell you "don't be so quick to want to grow up."

I miss whittling away my Summer vacation playing outside from noon until the streetlights came on; water fights with the neighbor kids, riding bikes, trading cards and hanging out at our friend Tamera's clubhouse eating munchies and watching her portable television.

I miss spending the night at friends' houses, having all nighters playing SNES (my friend's dad was a BIG Zelda fan and would hang out with us playing Link to the Past), trying to beat Contra without the Konami Code and sneaking food from the fridge at midnight.

I miss recess at school and spending fifteen minutes throwing the Nerf Vortex Screamer football back and forth with my buddies. I miss saving up enough money to buy a tub of Solar Gak and then promptly dropping it into the gravel the next day during second recess.

I miss the special Friday nights when my folks would take us to the local Mom and Pop video store to rent a movie or a NES game as a reward for good behavior or doing good in school that week.

I miss getting my younger brother interested in books for the first time by reading Animorphs and Chronicles of Narnia out loud to him when he was only 4.

I miss birthday parties where one of us would have a bunch of friends invited to spend the afternoon at the arcade or Chuck E Cheese.

I miss school field trips to Oaks Park (a roller rink and amusement park in Oregon, my home state) where I still recall roller skating with my first crush as the disco balls sparkled and the music blared, sharing a platter of nachos together at the food court later and beating down my buddies in Battletoads at the arcade section.

I could go on and on but you get the picture. I'd give anything to go back to those carefree, joyous days and recapture some of that happiness I had, if only for a couple hours...

I miss the 90s because that's when I grew up. I miss arcades, fun shows on tv, awesome music on the radio, back when movie theaters were like a portal into another world seeing the latest Hollywood movies, fast food tasted awesome, video games were super exciting, etc.

Of course, if I were in my 50s, I'd say that the 70s and 60s were better than the 90s. It's all about how you're aging.

I miss the 90's because it was the end to childhood. I graduated in 96 and after that started working full time so this was around the time I got my own place and really started living life. And where I went so did my trusty Playstation 1. :D

Back in the 90's and early 2000's, the Internet wasn't infested with social networking. The most "social" parts of the internet were chat rooms and newsgroups. Nowadays, when you surf the web, all you see is hardcore gaming, social networking, Instagram, and parents too lazy to raise their kids right.

My local Blockbuster in the 90's and early 2000's: Great video store
The local Blockbuster in 2014: Gone with Hibbett Sports and an Italian restaurant taking its place
I hope I'm not the only one that misses rental stores. My city used to have a Blockbuster, once one of the best video stores in the city of LaFayette, Georgia. It had popcorn, candy, and even genre-specific aisles! But with the fruit of the online streaming and DVR era, Blockbuster closes and is replaced with Hibbett Sports and an Italian restaurant. This destroyed the meaning of going to the rental store and getting the newest movie.

America wasn't a war zone. I'm not trying to be offensive, but in the 90's and early 2000's you felt safer going to Sandy Hook or visiting Florida.

My favorite years of my life were 1995-2003.
