Well we've had the Nintendo Wii U since Christmas and I must say Nintendo has done an excellent job with this console. I bought the Super Mario Bros. U deluxe edition, it came with two games, Super Mario Bros. U and Luigi U. Super Mario Bros. U is the best Mario Bros. game I have ever played. It looks fantastic, the colors are vibrant and bright, and everything just looks super crisp on our 1080p LED TV. I found myself just staring with amazement at the cleanness and quality of the graphics. It’s hard to imagine Nintendo has come this far since the days of NES Super Mario Bros. While my kids play as Mario and Luigi, I like to man the Wii U tablet controller and help them out by using the styles to tap and stun enemies, and tap anywhere on the tablet screen to create blocks that they can jump on; I've saved them from falling to their deaths quite a few times. I was also able to download many of my favorite classics from the Nintendo E shop. Next I’m looking forward to getting Super Mario Bros. 3D World, I’m sure it will not disappoint. Now I’m an Xbox person myself, but I highly recommend the Nintendo Wii U for anyone who is considering buying a console for their young kids.

It doesn't feel like it's been that long since the last Wii first came out.

I bought a Wii U for the family back in November. We like it. I bought the Wind Waker bundle. My son and I are currently going through that. I also bought Super Mario 3D World. It's a pretty good game. Hard as hell later in the game, though.

Not a young kid or somebody with a family but I am a long time Nintendo fan and decided to get a Wii U to have a complimentary system to the PS4. Glad I finally put down the cash for one. Super Mario 3D World is awesome and the system itself actually is a well made machine. Much moreso than I gave it credit for. I was under the impression from friends that the menus were a mess to navigate but I haven't had a problem with them at all. The graphics also, while not quite up to par with the best of the best on PS4 and Xbox One, are hardly what I'd call bad. The gap this time between Wii U and PS4/Xbox One doesn't appear to be nearly as bad as it was with Wii compared to PS3/Xbox 360. I'd like to see a little more consistency as far as the good game releases because while the Wii wasn't the best console ever it did have a steady flow of good first party games from 2006-2010 mixed with some third party gems. The upcoming months should be good with Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, X and Smash Bros. But hopefully there will be some more big announcements at E3. I can see potential in this system but Nintendo needs to get behind it with the kind of support Wii had in the prime of its run.

Not being able to play your Gamecube games is a really dumb move. Not to mention the really ridiculous controller.

How is it a dumb move? Saying the Wii U should play Gamecube games is like saying the Xbox One should play games from the original Xbox or how the PS4 should play PS2 games. Besides, at least the Wii U has backwards compatibility at all, which is something neither the Xbox One and PS4 has. And you do realize that Nintendo already dropped Gamecube support on all Wii models since roughly 2010 to cut back on costs, right? There's not really much of a reason for them to continue supporting a console that's two console generations ago.

As for the "ridiculous controller"... in all honesty, I do think the Wii U Gamepad has potential that Nintendo hasn't been utilizing properly. But there does exist the Wii U Pro Controller, which I think is not only a good replacement for the Gamecube controller, but it's also the most comfortable controller I've ever held.

I remember when I got the Gamecube and everyone else was getting the PS2 or Xbox. Man, did I get some flack! My classmates would rag on me and I remember my brother in law saying how at Gamestop all the older crowd was crowded around the other console's game shelves and how the Nintendo section was a bunch of little kids and their moms.

I bought a Gamecube at launch, just so I could get Smash Bros., which I think came out only a month after the GC, and the Resident Evil remake. It wasn't the best system, but it had some gems. REmake, RE Zero, RE 4, Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes, Eternal Darkness, Smash Bros. Melee, Metroid Prime 1, those games alone made it worth it. I also played Splinter Cell on GC since I didn't have an Xbox at the time and the GC version was better than the PS2 one.

I got the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle and I am really enjoying it so far. I bought Super Mario 3D World and Zelda Wind Waker, so I'll be pretty busy this Summer. I even got a free download from Mario Kart 8 which I used on New Super Mario Bros U.
