    		 Because 2000 was before 9/11, there are naturally differences in the way people thought/acted in 2000 vs. 2013.

    One such example is the culture of airports/airlines. Security became much tighter and serious after 9/11.

      		 Myspace, followed by Facebook. Everyone started sharing their personal business online.

      Everyone is streaming tv shows and movies with Netflix and Hulu. Most of the big video stores have closed down.

        		 I think people collectively now have less attention span. They feel awkward or out of place unless doing something on their phones. I will see a group of teenagers at the mall, and they're all on their phones. I find this quite perplexing because if I were with all my buddies, I wouldn't have or need anyone else to contact on my phone!
