Light rain today. The soil everywhere is a nasty muck though from the melted snow.

It's cold, but no snow. Living in the deep south has its downs.

Yep, it definitely does. The meteorologists in this area are seemingly incapable of predicting snow. If they say it's going to snow, that's a sure sign you won't see a single snowflake.

But yeah, I'm enjoying in the winter. Living in the south, we usually get a lot of warm Winters. Plus, I loathe Spring and Summer, so I'm fine with the cold.

Anyone from Atlanta that can elaborate on the traffic situation? Looks like people are just leaving their cars and walking out!

I don't think I've seen anything like this in my life. I hope I'll never have to see anything like this again.

Thank you, Chipper, for saving the talented Freddie Freeman!

I live about an hour from Atlanta, so I can kinda/sorta explain.

The snow and ice wasn't predicted to hit anywhere but the southern portions of Alabama and Georgia (so the local meteorologists said). Obviously they were very wrong and it hit most of both states. Both states are ill prepared to deal with Winter weather when it is expected, much less when it isn't.

The storm hit Birmingham first and was clearly moving toward Atlanta. It had already left a mess in Birmingham, so the mayor of Atlanta and Governor should've been ready with preparations. They weren't. They didn't do anything. Last I've heard/seen, they still haven't done much.

So I assume those regions rarely get hit with snow? I guess it'd be like if San Francisco was hit with snow because they don't have plows and what not.

There's not a lot of snow around here usually, no. We usually get (maybe) 2 inches of snow every couple of years or so. The last big snow I remember before this one was January 2010. And, if I'm not mistaken, that one was much more significant than this one. I think we got around 8 inches then.

This past few weeks in Fredericksburg have been crappy. I think the average temperature for last Wednesday was only 10 degrees Fahrenheit and I had to go to classes that day!

Everyone freaked out here in Houston over a little ice. They closed the schools and government offices that Friday and the following Tuesday. Several of the bridges and overpasses froze on Friday, but not much happened on Tuesday. Snow fell and stuck to the north, but the city saw a wintery mix. The low was on the mid 20s and the high was in the low 30s. It's been a cold winter here, but not cold enough to bust any pipes.

Everyone loves snow while perched in a cozy nook, sipping hot coco with a sensual romance novel in hand. It's a different world when you're out in the sullied, black slush shoveling. Trying to get your kids to your ex wife's place in time so you're not late for your job castrating chicks at Tyson foods.

No such thing as sidewalks anymore, not sure I remember what curbs look like...at least 2 feet all around the house.
