    		 I like the analogy of the attic at your parent's house.

    You go to your folks house after many years of living out of state. You pull down the stairs, open the cobweb ridden door and peer inside the attic to see all your old toys haphazardly thrown in cardboard boxes. No doubt the nostalgic feelings would really be amazing.

    Then compare it to going to yours folks and they cleaned out the attic and you find all your stuff in neatly labeled clear plastic ziplock bags. It's all there but it just wouldn't feel the same. That's how I see RJ then and now. presentation is half the battle.

          It is not a final design and many things will change slightly if I go forward but you can see what I am going for with it. The logo characters and car images will change depending on what decade filter you have chosen. The decade in the mockup is obviously the 80's. Let me know what you think.


          That layout idea is perfect. It's almost the way it was when I first started coming to the site. Though, I would move the Home, Movies, etc. over to the left side of the page. And I'd love to have the G.I. Joe style logo be put back, but if not, just moving the Home, Movies, to the left side of the page would be great.
          Don't pay any attention to the evil spirited and dead of heart. They're not worth your time.

            		 Agreed. This is an improvement over the existing design. And it brings back that look of the old site while still keeping the new one somewhat intact.

                		 Whatever happened to the member catalog and the countless submitted articles? We also need to have actual profiles again where we can give bios and have a image gallery.

                    		 Vertex, it is great to see a post from you! I think this new design you are showing has great potential, and I urge you to go for it. Sadly after you did this current design, many were not happy with it and left, thus making the activity greatly decline. Sounds like what you have going here will be better, and users will like it. It sure has a good feeling from the old design, but keeps things fresh.

                    The ad cannot be moved to the bottom. Ad networks require their ads to be appear at the top.                     I do understand the advertisements needing to be on top, makes sense, but I remember way before this layout, the top panel links (TV, Articles, My Profile, ect) were all on the left hand side with the search tab under them on the bottom left. I liked that much better and think that worked best. Maybe you can look into that, sounds like you are seeing what you can do though.

                    I guess like others, I am just retro for the old Retrojunk!
                    I also agree with what was just said about the post counts and profile comments, for users to be able write on our profiles.
                    My post count is inaccurate, and went down after this current design, I don't know what it should be now. Post counts were having some issues even before this.

                    I appreciate you sharing your redesign thinking with us, Vertex! :D

                      I still come around from time to time! same with Retrodaze, I haven't been too active in Foruming as I was in 2005...good days! I just been seduced by the book that my face can't seem to get out of. That and "steaming" and real life taking it's tolls.
                      I like the Idea of bringing back RJ to the way it once was with some new stuff in the mix. It's kinda like a virtual home to me.
