Vertex 1 year 28 days ago Posts: 384 Site Admin	It has been awhile since the new design was introduced and since at the same time I did a total recode of the site I have been working to fix bugs and get features back in place. RJ consists of tens of thousands of lines of code across 4 servers and its just little old me trying to keep the train on the tracks so I had to focus my time on stuff behind the scenes. At this point the site is stable enough for me to start seriously looking at the aesthetic design. Although I like the current design I think it has lost a little personality so I thought I might go retro on this design. Before I sink any more time into this I wanted to see if you guys were into it. http://www.retrojunk.com/bundles/rjcommon/image/redesign-v4.png It is not a final design and many things will change slightly if I go forward but you can see what I am going for with it. The logo characters and car images will change depending on what decade filter you have chosen. The decade in the mockup is obviously the 80's. Let me know what you think.

I would make the logo bigger, spanned across the top and centered, move the advertisement to the bottom, move the search field to the right side pane, center the “RetroJunk.com \| Privacy \| etc..” at the bottom, get rid of all that empty white space under the “Videos” or fill it with some other stuff, and try to move that whole white middle area over to the right so it’s not so close to the left border.

Anyway if most people seem to be down with this new design I will put a lot more work into it a get it smoothed out.

vkimo 1 year 28 days ago Posts: 2323 Forum Mod Editor	Yep, definitely a good marriage between the old layout and the current. I'd like to see categories for the media content like before. Different navigable sections for toys,trailers, fast food, etc. It makes the site look like there's more to it.

ethandaman24 1 year 28 days ago Posts: 784	I like it, it gets me nostalgic for the old Retro Junk (hard to believe we've gotten to that point). I'd like for this site to have the same user activity like it did 5-7 years earlier. I'm tired of those poorly-run retro-based pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. I especially can't stand those biased articles on BuzzFeed that pretty much stereotype generations thinking they don't know certain things from other people's childhoods.

I agree this site needs a more nostalgic look and that looks much better than what we have now.
