    What is an update exactly?

I would define it as something that's superior or more improved.
There is a battle between two wolves inside us all.

One is evil and the other one is good. Which wolf will win? The one you feed the most.

It's all because Vertex screwed the site up for absolutely no reason. The site's design was amazing and retro before. Now, it's just plain and boring. Sort of like what you'd see in the old angelfire or geocities days.
Don't pay any attention to the evil spirited and dead of heart. They're not worth your time.

This right here. The infamous redesign was a death knell for the site. The site and the forum looked great. Not only that, the forum ran A LOT more smoothly. In addition, it just seemed like the topics were more interesting back then. It was a nice mix of "Hey! Remember when..." and miscellaneous discussion.

A lot of the old guard basically threw in the towel after it was obvious no improvements were going to be made. I can't really blame them, but it's a shame. I hate to say it, but let's face it: A lot of the new members aren't the greatest.

When it comes to the forums, and pretty much all forums for that matter, the original subject matter it was founded on gets old and people just start talking about whatever. Here people just left, that's all.

Exactly I know I've gotten bored when it seems like all anybody wants to talk about is old toys, old cartoons, and old video games. There's a lot more to the 80s and 90s than all that retarded kiddy shit. These days I'm more into stuff like cars, tools, guns, and booze. Let's talk about that stuff. Let's also talk about the old issues of playboy and hustler. You know the stuff you'd raid your old man's stash for. It's time for our nostalgia to grow up.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like the new influx of users just want to discuss how Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon 'suck' now. Maybe I'm just wearing my rose-colored glasses, but I remember the forums (certainly the Chit Chat section) having way more variety way back when I originally joined.

I dont remember the last time I was here but I just decided to check back today because I'm getting into the christmas mood and RJ was always the place I would go to get that christmas nostalgia fix. I'm pretty sure I have been on RJ since circa 2003, maybe earlier although I had a different account before. I kind of left after the site upgrade and it looks like a lot of others did as well. I feel that if the site was somehow downgraded to the previous format, people would come back. It was perfect before.

In a sense, we are getting that "downgrade" darthmunk. Vertex announced that he was going to change the design and it was shown to us in one of the other threads. It has several nice touches from the old RJ, while still maintaining the layout of the current version.

I just do not like this forum design at all. The whole interface really, but oh well. Do you know how I could find the thread you are referring to? I'd like to see it.

Note: I like how I can't even post a link within this site without tripping the spam filter. Lame.

I do remember coming here in 2005ish when I had dialup because I could get a bunch of Sonic videos, but I only signed up in 2011.
