          Star Wars doesn't need saving.

And I while I will definetely go to see Episode VII, because I am a HUGE Star Wars fan-- I also have mixed feelings on this.

I don't like the idea of Star Wars being in the hands of Disney. And I sure hope they don't turn the franchise into nothing but kiddie fare like they did with Marvel. Even though Star Wars has always appealed to kids, it has always appeal to both adults and children. I just have a bad feeling that Disney is going to water down Star Wars.

And I don't feel like J.J Abrams is the right man of the job.

Why are people so prejudice to Disney?

And do you think Pixar and Disney belong together?

The original Trilogy seems like a fluke now. It happened, it was amazing, and it ended. It's like they've been trying to emulate it ever since. Anyone ever stop to think maybe Star Wars was meant to be a one trick pony?

Yeah, George Lucas got lucky with a big hit and decided to milk it for all he can. He claims he always had this grand scheme of nine movies in place, but I don't believe it.

                  Hmmm.
Their modern kids' television programming is smarmy and cheap.
They're aligned with people who want to censor entertainment.
They continue to enforce the patriarchal princess myth and unrealistic beauty standards.

Hey Stake, what about the other stuff they bought like Marvel, Pixar, Ghibli and Muppets? Disney did great with them especially Tron and Pirates of the caribbean.

And did you think Disney was great in the 90s?

Marvel, Pixar, Ghibli and Muppets have all made great stuff. I don't know how much influence Disney has on their output other than financing and distribution? I didn't see Tron or the Pirates movies but I am interested in the latter. Disney was...extraordinarily successful in the 90s, I'll say that. They surely had a balance sheet renaissance then. To me, I enjoyed Little Mermaid, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast less than earlier films such as Aristocats, Robin Hood, 101 Dalmations, etc. In the 90s, they became a factory churning out many movies of many different kinds and using acquired other properties and studios like those you mentioned. When Walt was alive, Disney worked on only one animated movie at a time, and they didn't even release one every year. I don't think they have that focus now, and there's a reason The Jungle Book or Cinderella (for example) are classics, and A Goofy Movie or Mulan just never will be in quite the same way.

I mean George Lucas is a great guy back then but in the 90s to today he felt like he got into the business thing and got corrupted especially with too much control that he became like that scene in Empire Strikes back of seeing Luke as Vader and that's what happened with George. Do you agree he screwed up SW and Indiana Jones?

I can't wait for summer 2015 and should be a good return of the SW name. Maybe Indy 5 can be good too.

Of course he screwed them up. I don't wanna sayhe's an idiot, but...he definitely lost touch with what made his earlier work great, and he seems hostile or uncaring about it. As for future movies, maybe they will be good, with different people involved. The new Star Trek movies have been very popular, but everything I've read about them that considers the older incarnations says they have ignored what made those earlier works great. So my hopes aren't terribly high. I don't care much, but why is it that no one is able to create new properties that inspire as much devotion? Because the studio system is a money-grubbing mess, and it refuses to back risk such as what made Star Wars et al such powerful and great properties.

Say Stake, don't you just hate it for the past 13 years Lucas has been taking the 3 great movies as he keeps butchering, torturing, raping, vandalizing them to no end on DVD and on Blu-ray? i mean more stupid editing and changes he keeps doing like the worst one being the ghost changing or adding "Noooo" at the end of Jedi on Blu-ray to adding Ewok blinking eyes to voice change editing on Boba, unacceptable and was the last straw for us SW fans.

I hope Disney does the right thing now that Lucas is gone and retired and away from his company to do beautifully restored and remastered for HD original theatrical untampered original cuts on Blu-ray/DVD combo with quality PQ and AQ restoration to have them shown as originally theatrically.

                              I hope so too.

The only changes that are appreciated in rereleases is to make something longer IMO. Restoring deleted scenes and the like. And to make sure the quality, by which I mean fidelity to the original media, is as high as possible. I was so happy when Criterion did a Metropolis.

Yes and do you think some of the changes are unacceptable like Greedo shooting first, changing Anakin's ghost and adding "Nooo" at the climax of Jedi where Vader throws the Emperor away and changing Boba's voice?
