retrotyrone1989 1 year 3 months ago Posts: 104	my kind of post! there are many sounds that make me nostalgic, because i'm visually impaired. the on-board takeoff and landing on the airplane, yes! i remember when radio was fun, and that rare chance i'd get to listen to my fave station from out-of-state, way before streaming, you'd be excited to land in that city. one of my old faves being the old Power 104 and oldies 107.5 in Houston, TX. those of you from HTX may know what i'm talking about. i used to say to myself as the plane took off, "power 104, oldies 107.5, here i come!" the sound of the slot machines as you arrived at the casino (mostly las vegas, but other states with casinos can relate) the sound of the Circus Circus midway and arcade the sounds of entering disneyland the old carson mall and it's shops and arcades, 90's So Cal Kids, do you remember that? the del mar fairgrounds during summer Qualcomm stadium and chargers games, including the cannons and fireworks after a charger touchdown Padres stadium (same thing, except without the cannons,) only fireworks after a home run. the KGB sky show 90's radio in general, was mostly into top40, but because i was a jingle collector back then, well, still am, wasn't really into country, newstalk, soft rock, or oldies, but for jingles sake, i bared with it. the old KABC Eyewitness News opens and finally the neighbors shooting off fireworks Way before the fourth of July. most likely around may. if any of you guys are from the compton area, or have been around 154th street, this was us in the 90's.

I've lived in Houston my whole life so I remember those stations well. I used to pick up other station all the time from tropospheric propagation late at night. I remember when that oldies station was in the 90 Mhz range. I think it was 94.5, but not sure. As for Power 104 there was another top 40 station back in the 80s called 93Q. I think they were nationwide because I saw Q stations in others cities and states. They were in competition with each other, but 104.1 ended up coming on top. One day I turned on the radio and heard country playing on 93Q. Its still country to this day. Speaking of 104.1. There was a DJ that went by the name Psycho Robbie on the morning show back in the early 90s. Believe it or not he works at the company I work for now. I talk to him everyday. retrotyrone1989 1 month 25 days ago Posts: 104	well! it doesn't hurt to refresh a forum post every here and there, haven't been on in a while, and now come to think of a lot more sounds that make me nostalgic. the bell and sirens on game shows: those happened every so often on certain game shows, when the big prize was won. games like spin to win, solar spin, and wheel 'em in car startups: particularly 90's and early 2k cars. the chime that happens when you stick the keys in. faves were from ford and chevy.
