When I was a kid, my mom would take us to Burger King or McDonald's a few times a year. Early in high school I decided I didn't like either of them so I haven't been there in a long time. I hear good things about Burger King, so I might try them sometime if I'm on the road and desperate. But no ketchup, mustard, onions, or pickles dammit!
I still don't go for fast food very often. But when I do, I like:
Wendy's
Jack in the Box
Carl's Jr
Kentucky Fried Chicken
Tastee-Freez
Culver's
and of course, the ever-lovin' Steak 'n' Shake.
Popeye's is OK but not as good as KFC, at least chickenwise.
Taco Bell is also OK but I really only go there in a pinch. Then I pinch a loaf afterwards
I went to Checkers once. I was very not impressed.
In my youth, I liked Roy Rogers. I haven't even seen one in a long time. Last time I went I was driving 500 miles. I didn't like it. The burger was dry and crappy. I don't know if this is Roy Rogers in general or just a rest stop calamity.
I think Arby's is gross.
One time I went to Wendy's and the guy in front of me told the cashier, "I munna have, a cheeseburger. And THEN I munna have, a medium fries. And THEN I munna have, a frosty. And THEN I munna have, a chicken sandwich. And THEN I munna have..." I don't remember the exact items he was picking, but he went on for a long time that way and it was pretty bizarre.
I also like non-chain stands that serve burgers, polish/hot dogs, or (only in Philly) cheesesteaks.
