Me too. I wanted to get on the internet and didn't have the money for real a computer. So in 1996 I got WebTv. It wasn't too bad, but the lack of Java applets, Real Player and being able to install programs made me want a computer. In 1998 I got my first computer which was a 300 MHz Compaq Presario 5010. I paid just over $2000 for it.
When I first got online back in 1996 the first website I went to was weather.com. I was into weather back then and used to see it advertized on The Weather Channel. The next website I went to was Yahoo. I used to hang out on a website called The Globe where I made my first webpage, but it shut down a couple of years later.
One thing I can tell you about the internet back then is it had a more matured, more intelligent crowd. Back then the average person wasn't on the internet. You didn't have the trolls and haters like you do today.
