Somebody's looking for a fight. LOL. Though, as an 80's kid, I have no dog in this fight, so it doesn't bother me.

90s fine for me, but I personally appreciate aspects other than what seems to get most of the attention on this board.

My "What the?" thread appears to have 28 posts when it hasn't even had a 2nd page yet.

Maybe another adjustment has caused certain numbers to double. I remember when that happened to post counts. But, the reply counter is giving odd numbers. 5 when it was really 2, 11 now that it's really 6. Very strange.

Besides having my childhood in that decade, I think the 90s are WAY too overrated. Who else agrees?

I don't think so. I was born in 81 and I graduated High School in 99, so the 90's were fun and crazy times for me. The 90's pumped out tons of great TV programing and vidoe games, maybe even more than the 80's.

The 90s is when I experienced my childhood and they were the best times of my life so I can't say they were overrated. Maybe to some people that were already grownups the 90s could have been considered overrated but to a kid the 90s were great. I think even kids growing up in the 2000s will have their fair share of memories and will consider the 2000s an amazing part of their life. It all depends on when you were raised.

Let me tell ya boy, look at good things about the 80s:

The 80s had NES games? So did the 90s (the 90s had SNES too)
The 80s had Guns N Roses and Metallica? So did the 90s (the 90s had Rage Against The Machine and Pearl Jam too)
The 80s had Cheers? The 90s had episodes of Cheers too

Now the 80s was a good decade, but considering how excessive the 80s nostalgia was in previous years, the 90s are hardly overrated, at least not compared with the 80s.

Why do you even have a problem with the decade?

This seems like a very OJ90s-esque response. Just sayin'.

I agree. The 90s were everything the 80s were and more. It was almost like an extended version with superior products. I was born in 1986 so I don't remember the 80s but when I became consciously aware of my existence in the early 90s I was able to enjoy the greatness of the 80s like the NES and 80s movies but also got to experience all the great arcades and home consoles. The only thing I can maybe see how someone may see the 90s as overrated is if they were old enough to fully remember the 80s and just enjoyed the vibe of life more than the 90s. Perhaps people were more friendlier in the 80s compared to the 90s but I personally wouldn't know. The 90s were awesome to me because I could enjoy the current 90s stuff as well as 80s stuff all in one time during my childhood. Anything before the 80s actually seemed really outdated but things from the 80s still interested me.

I don't like most 90s culture, but that's because I had a bad time in the decade. Many people in my age bracket didn't, so they look more fondly on it. The decades treat every person differently. Also, when it comes to the 80s, even when nostalgia for the 80s was popular, it was tempered with mockery and regret in many cases. When it comes to nostalgia for the 90s, there isn't mockery or regret to accompany it. I personally would like to see jokes about 90s hairstyles, fashions and pop culture, but those who are nostalgiac for the 90s seem to like it too much to do that.

The 90's represents a time of opportunity and possibility, the height of marketing and capitalism, and the last decade of childhood innocence.

While the 80's was darkened by crime, aids, and environmental concerns, the 90's was a time of hope and positive thinking; that anything was possible.

There were a lot of things in the 90’s that were stupid like digital pets, dancing baby, the Macarena, baggy jeans, slap bracelets, gum in a tube, hetero sexual males wearing chokers, overalls, JanSport book bags, pump sneakers, pogs, and worst of all…..fanny packs!

Yeah, that's how I look at it. What's funny is I was raised horribly by my mother to the point if I told anyone I would probably be in child protective services, but even through the emotional, physical, neglectful abuse and psychological abuse, I still found ways to cheer myself up through the stuff that was on tv and every day life. I was so optimistic as a kid because I was good at burying that stuff inside of myself for years. What I didn't realize is that by the time I was 12 and 13 I really started to feel those seeds that were planted in my childhood really started to sprout and the reality that my life really wasn't that great but the only thing that got me through it was the 90s culture that I totally loved. The 90s were definitely a good time to think positive but it was definitely an illusion and a sort of psychological brainwashing.

Exactly, they were normal at best so why were they so much cooler than other backpacks? That’s what is so stupid about it.
