I was shocked to read this at first and then as I got to thinking about it not so much so. He hadn't looked very good the past couple of years. He was overweight and had abused drugs and alcohol in the past. He ex claimed that cocaine was his drug of choice. As you probably know cocaine isn't too good on the heart. Regardless 51 is way too young to die.

This is one of those mileposts in media that many will remember for years to come.

James Gandolfini, and his signature series "The Sopranos", not only marked a high point in broadcast television but crossed into the new century and survived the digital transition as well.

This new media landscape may not bring another show, or actor, like this ever again. I'm so sorry that James died so unexpectedly while on vacation at the age of 51. His many fans have come forward, online and otherwise, and I join them all in praise for this wonderful actor.

          Rest In Peace James Gandolfini
