Did anyone else feel like this show was sort of a fake TMNT?

Well I just looked it up and found out that they only made the pilot. I could swear that I watched more than one episode, I must be confusing them with some other show. I do remember feeling like they were a rip off of TMNT though.

I mean, I'm sure it was originally created to capitalize on the TMNT craze. I still think it was a fun game, as insanely difficult as it was.

I've heard of the show (long after it was a thing) but I never saw it.

Battletoads the game came first, and it was no secret that it was indeed a TMNT ripoff. The franchise was a goldmine so naturally imitators were drawn. As I understand things, the Battletoads show didn't go forward because it didn't have nearly the quality that was in the game.

Besides the game, I read comic books featuring:
Pre-Teen Dirty Gene Kung Fu Kangaroos
            Geriatric Jiu-jitsu Gerbils
            Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters
            Cold-Blooded Chameleon Commandos

Most of those were not serious.

I'm pretty sure Street Sharks and Biker Mice from Mars were also directly "inspired" by the turtles, but I never watched them.

Not familiar at all with the show.
There is a battle between two wolves inside us all.

One is evil and the other one is good. Which wolf will win? The one you feed the most.

That's funny, all those titles sound like TMNT ripoffs.

I remember for years waiting for it and being woefully disappointed when it finally came out. Same with the Mutant League cartoon. There's a lesson in there somewhere, maybe it's sometimes it's better to wish for something than to finally receive it or maybe it's that 9 times out of 10 video games usually suck when they're adapted into another medium. That would probably sound way more profound if you picture it being read aloud by either Morgan Freeman or Tom Bosley.

Shows based off popular video games would all be great if they could just get it right. Zelda comes to mind, would have been an awesome show but they did a crappy job and gave link that annoying catch phrase "Excuuuuse me princess", what a shame.

In my opinion, Super Mario Bros. Super Show came the closest to being "great". I loved the live-action portions.

Yeah, the combination of live-action and animation was nice, Captain Lou was probably the best person in the world to play Mario. In the last few weeks I have watched some episodes of The Adventures of Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World and feel like the writing and animation had progressively gotten better and was at its best during the Super Mario World show.
