My kids and I have watched all of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show since they became available on Netflix. Afterwards I found The Adventure of Super Mario Bros 3 witch to me seems better than the Super Show; does anyone know why it only lasted one season?

Not sure exactly why, but my guess is that as far as ratings were concerned, the Marios had run their course. Plus, Sonic was rising in popularity at that time. He had two or three different shows on the air over a multi-year period.

I know when I was watching SMB Super Show in its original run, I didn't like 3 as much. They got too specific with the powerups, left the mushroom kingdom for real-world locations frequently, and ditched the live action segments. Whether these things actually made the show worse, I can't tell. I tried to watch Super Show recently, and couldn't stand it. So it's possible that I was just outgrowing the cartoon at the same time they changed it. I think I was in the prime demographic for it, which would make it likely that most viewers were also losing interest.

One thing I will say is good about the show is Captain Lou made a MUCH better Mario voice then whatever wackball "wahoo it'sa me" voice they're using in the games now. Ugh.

Eh, if that's the case, why was there also a Super Mario World show?

            I just looked this up~
All three shows had only one season. But they had 65, 26, and 13 episodes respectively. They probably just decided they could accomplish the same amount of promo with less work and budget, so there was no point to making more.

I also had a hard time watching the Super Show, I don't think they did that great of a job with it. I'm actually enjoying mario bros 3 more than the Super Show, I would guess the writing got a little better.

I agree Captain Lou made the best Mario.

I didn't know about that one, that's awsome; looks like i'll be back on the hunt after we finish with Mario Bros 3.

Just speculation. But as with many things, the big wigs are always rushing to over-saturate the market and cash in as quick as possible. This could also have played into the cancellation. Who knows.

I don't think it has anything to do with ratings as to why it got cancelled. I think it's because Super Mario World is the continuation of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3. That show aired the year after TAoSMB3 aired and just like the previous show, it also aired next to Captain N. It was also the year Super Mario World was released on the SNES, so I believe DIC decided to make a series based off of that instead of continuing SMB3. I doubt Super Mario World would have aired if the ratings really were terrible.

I believe the main reason that Super Mario World ended as well as Captain N was due to the fact that NBC killed their Saturday Morning cartoon lineup the next year. The ratings probably did have some contribution to that considering how both Super Mario World and the third season of Captain N had the crappiest budget and writing compared to the other seasons. It also didn't help that NBC's 1991 Cartoon Lineup had some of the worst cartoons out there. Such as Pro Stars, Wish Kid, Yo Yogi. They were all such terrible shows.

I've tried watching the Super Show on netfilx and I just can't get into it. The most entertaining bits are the live action scenes.

I got my hands on Super Mario World; I actually think it's better than the previous two versions. Maybe because I spent a lot of time on that game and am more familliar with the music and sound effects which are all used in the cartoon.

                          Pro Stars wasn't that bad.

The SMB 3 show wasn't all that bad. I wish it lasted more than one measly season.

I was fortunate to have beaten Super Mario World.

I didn't hate Super Mario World. I still enjoyed that show for what was, not to mention that it was the show featuring the infamous Mama Luigi episode that was commonly used for Youtube poops. But when it comes to the animation style and writing, it was rather weak compared to the other shows. Some of the characters that appeared in the show didn't really get very many roles compared to other episodes. The Koopa Kids are a perfect example of that as Kootie Pie and Hip and Hop only appeared in one episode of the show.

Yeah, the budget was pretty terrible for Mario World, but it was still good enough.
