For me, the best year would be a tie between 1993 and 1994. Nickelodeon started going downhill in 1998.

Interesting. What part of Canada were you in? Here we never got Nickelodeon just a few shows that YTV would air.

The best year of Nickelodeon was the year when I was 4.

Toronto. I don't have much Nickelodeon knowledge compared to everyone else here but my grandparents owned a house in Florida that we would go down to every year for a few weeks and I'd often watch Nick or CN when we weren't doing much. Then of course we got a satellite later on with all the American channels.

In 1996, many good shows get cancelled, but it didn't go downhill as much as it did in 1998/99.

We got some of those shows. YTV Aired Nick Arcade, AYAOTD?, Rocko's Mdrn Life and Double Dare.
Much Music aired Ren and Stimpy
The rest on your list we didn't get.

I like the Mid 80s because the channel had a feel that was quirky and unique, not unlike what other startup cable channels had in their inaugural years (i.e. MTV, Sci-Fi Channel, Cartoon Network, G4). The 80s saw the birth of green slime, the greatest Nickelodeon ID jingles ("Nick, nick, nick, nick, nuh, nick, nick, nick. Nickelodeon!";), and the channel was much less commercial than it would later become (ruining its uniqueness and charm). Most importantly, it was home of the greatest kid's sketch show of all time, You Can't Do That on Television!

Nick had Belle and Sebastian, You Can't Do That On Television, Nick Rocks, Double Dare, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Mr. Wizard's World, Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, The Third Eye, Black Beauty, Today's Special, and Pinwheel. In the early 80s Nick didn't even have commercials--just a bunch of network bumpers. It was PBS on LSD.
