bklynbren 1 year 6 months ago Posts: 866	It sounds great. I wouldn't mind replacing my cable top box with the Xbox. The voice command feature sounds really cool; I can't wait to try them out. Though I'm not a big fan of the kenect style game play (I prefer a standard controller), the notion of managing my media with hand strokes and voice commands has me chomping at the bits for this new system.

blueluigi22 1 year 6 months ago Posts: 140	I was actually very thoroughly impressed by it. I think this will really work a lot as a gaming system. I wasn't sure weather or not the system was going to be better than the PS4, but it seems that Microsoft really knows what they're doing with this.

Derk 1 year 6 months ago Posts: 1471	I think it sounds awful. About the only positive thing I can say about it is that the fact that it looks like a VCR from 1993 makes me laugh. I think they made a lot of baffling, delusional decisions with this. The fact that this thing must connect to the Internet at least once every twenty-four hours is really stupid. But the absolute worst thing about this is how they're going to rape/destroy the used game market. This is pure greed on M$'s part. I'm sure Gamefly is just 'thrilled' with a lot of the news that came with the reveal. I may be completely wrong, but I think this thing is going to be an absolute train wreck. Even more so than it already sorta is. EDIT: Also, I love this GIF

eddstarr88 1 year 6 months ago Posts: 6883	That's right, Xbox One is not backward compatible. Your 360 games will not work with the One system. Xbox One is finally a Blu-ray system because Microsoft sees this as part of a home entertainment set-up that replaces the set-top box. You are required to have a broadband cable account and all active play must be tied to an existing approved account. Xbox One is aimed at the Home Entertainment market, not at Gamers. Microsoft sees its future with a different customer base. Right now the Xbox 360 is the best thing Microsoft has going. If MS bets wrong with its One system it will be the biggest error Microsoft has made, since Windows 8.

This will only be possible at retailers who have agreed to Microsoft’s T&Cs and more importantly integrated Microsoft’s cloud-based Azure pre-owned system into its own. The game is then registered as having been traded-in on Microsoft’s system. The consumer who handed it over will subsequently see the game wiped from their account – hence the until now ambiguous claim from Phil Harrison that the Xbox One would have to ‘check in’ to Microsoft’s servers every 24 hours. The retailer can then sell the pre-owned game at whatever price they like, although as part of the system the publisher of the title in question will automatically receive a percentage cut of the sale. Yes, it sounded cool at first seeing the unveil of the new system and how it looks like it has a nice shine to it, but then I saw further elaborate stuff like this video on the new Kinect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi5kMNfgDS4 The news about the new Kinect is really rubbing me the wrong way. Not only does it detect your heart rate, muscle mass, and emotion, but the thing also runs when the system is turned off. Does that sound fishy to anybody here, and to what Microsoft is planning with this new system. I was also turned off by the fact that you cannot transfer the data from your Xbox 360 to the Xbox One. That, and it does not support any of the Xbox Live Arcade titles for the Xbox 360. Yeah, brilliant decision Microsoft. What if they shut down their online services for the Xbox Marketplace for the 360? Then you would no longer be able to purchase any of the games that was made available for the Xbox 360 Live Arcade.

Oldschoolgamer83 1 year 6 months ago Posts: 1360	I'm going to wait until after E3 to really judge the system. As of right now, some of the non-gaming features are cool but the anti-consumer approach to used games disgusts me and has me even less interested in this console than I am the Wii U. As long as Sony doesn't royally screw up, PS4 will be the first and possibly only next-gen console I buy. And I'm somebody who buys as many systems as possible. A company has to really get things wrong to make me not care at all about its product.
