Before there was Yu-gi-oh! or pokemon cards, there was this card game: Magic. I used to play this game back in high school and thought it was better than yu-gi-oh. Lately I've been thinking of getting back into it since I know of plenty of people my age who still play it at a hobby shop in my city. Have any of you ever played this game?
I used to play it with this one guy during lunch at work, years ago. I also used to play it online via MTGplay (now OCTGN). I still play it in the form of duels of the planeswalkers via microprose (it's my equiv to computer solitaire).

I used to play back when I was in college in the mid 90's and I really enjoyed it. I tried to get back into it recently but I found that the game had become way too complicated and the victory always went to the person who had spent the most money on cards. I much prefer a game with an even playing field.
I still play, in fact they are making a massive comeback. I know a lot of young people who are just recently getting into it, I personally prefer the older cards without all of the crazy new rules and abilities, but some of the new cards are pretty awesome
I never played it, but several guys used to play it in the break room at work back in the early 2000s. A guy I also used to go to private school with went to HR because he found the game offensive (the spells). They basically told him that since it was being played on their break there was nothing they could/would do about it.
The comic shop I frequent is heavy into Magic. I'd guess 60-70% of their business is from sales and tournaments. I've always wanted to get into it, but don't have the time to build up a deck and learn how to play.
