Not a direct sequel, but it still should be pretty good.

A prequel? What's next...a Toy Story movie about Buzz Lightyear's beginnings in a Taiwanese factory?

I think I heard a rumor somewhere awhile back that they were going to make a Monsters Inc. sequel where the little girl was all grown up. Now we know it's not going to happen.

I am actually looking forward to this movie myself. As a lot of people know, I am a huge Pixar fan, though to be honest, I was too impressed with Brave, it was ok, not great. And of course, I didn't very much like Cars 2 (though I did buy the blu-Ray/DVD combo, cause I was able to get it for cheap and I've collection animated movies.) It will be interesting to see Pixar's first prequal.

I actually had an idea and even thought about writing a "fanfic" of Jessie's life before Andy, as in her days with her original owner, Emily, which of course would be a prequeal of sorts. I thought it could be a neat ideat, of course the problem would be that it would end up too depressing as we know how it would end and the only way it could end, that's with Emily leaving Jessie under her bed collecting dust for years than giving her away to some goodwill type of truck.

Yeah... I'm really not impressed with this film. Everything I've seen about it looks pretty terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if the movie bombs the same way Cars 2 did.

I hate to say this, but I really think Pixar has been running out of ideas for the past couple years. Toy Story 3 was their last movie that I actually enjoyed. Everything else I've seen coming from them have been pretty weak. Brave was an incredibly bland movie, and their upcoming projects makes me think they've run out of ideas.

You know, it's funny. Before, Pixar was actually making better movies than Disney themselves. Now, it's the other way around. Disney's animation company has been making much better movies than Pixar has for the past couple years. A good example was when Disney released Wreck-It Ralph in theaters. It completely blew Brave right out of the water, and it was overall a much better movie in general. It truly feels like something that Pixar made before they jumped the shark.

So, unless Pixar makes another film that's as great as films like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and the ORIGINAL Monsters Inc, then I'm pretty much losing faith in them.

It gets confusing with all the animation movies. I watched Hotel Transylvania and it was pretty good. I've always been a fan of Pixar but nothing lately has piqued my interest. I'm sure they're OK, but I won't even watch animated films like Over The Hedge/Hoodwinked/Madagascar.

Over the Hedge actually wasn't that bad, I honestly liked that one, one of my favorite Dreamworks movies actually.

Yeah, I do feel Pixar is running of out steam, the year Cars 2 come out was the year I felt Dreamworks totally beat them with Kung Fu Panda 2, which is something I never really thought I would feel. And yeah, Wreck it Ralph was a way better movie than Brave, no contest. But it's sort of odd to make it sound like Pixar and Disney are competing aganist each other since Pixar is own by Disney. Still Wreck it Ralph was amazing, in fact, it's one of my new favorite movies.

Actually, Over The Hedge is an enjoyable animated film imo.

Over the Hedge was mildly entertaining for what it was (though some of the humor got annoying). Hoodwinked had it's moments but the sequel looks like garbage. Madagascar is the only one I refuse to watch.

I hate to admit it, but Pixar has sort of let me down these past few years. Cars 2, a sequel to my least favorite Pixar film, was just bland and hard to sit through. Making Mater (the most annoying character in the movie) the main character didn't help much either. The spy car concept was a weird turn around from the first film and it didn't really do much for me.

Brave had a lot of potential to redeem the studio but it turned into yet another disappointment. The story was cliche and the characters were either boring or just annoying stereotypes of Scottish. The only real good thing was the animation (and a few scenes). It was still a big step up from Cars 2. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that Monsters University will not be any better, but that remains to be seen.

Of course I am going to see it, I enjoyed Monsters Inc very much. Seeing the story of how Sulley and Mike become friends could be interesting, but I won't have guessed interesting enough to make a movie, I would of thought a comic book series like Boom studios use to do for Disney (and boy it's such a shame they don't anymore, especially since that's the last we'll see of Darkwing Duck for a LONG time).

Brave wasn't all that bad, but doesn't hold up to Pixar's other movies (minus it being better than either Cars of course). The animation was amazing, heck even something like the hair of the main female character was awesome to look at, but yeah, the story was a bit bland.

There is also talk of doing a Toy Story 4, which even though I am a huge Toy Story fan (even spent a cool 200 bucks for an amazing limited of only 2010, the year TS3 come out, collectable doll), I am hoping they don't do. The Toy Story shorts they've played at the start of some movies is great, but a fouth movie is pushing it for any successful franchasie.

I heard that a Finding Nemo 2 movie was in the works.

I can't decide if it looks good or bland. If I have a little extra cash, I might see it. I actually liked Brave, so I'm not giving up on Pixar just yet. I'm more interested what Disney's offering these days, though.

You're correct. I think Toy Story 3's success made have given them a sequel obsession.

Well after being a movie studio that came up with so many original animated features, sooner or later, they were bound to run out of ideas and go back and make sequels. Not that there is really anything wrong with that overall, just hoping the sequels (or in case of Monsters, a prequel) will be entertaining and good.
