Honestly, as an adult, I appreciate anything I get now LOL beacuse I don't normally get things. I never appreciated those burger king gift certificates as a kid or the 20 dollar gift cards to certain stores, I had always wished it was just cash. Now i'm like man, i'd love someone forever if they gave me a barnes and noble or subway gift card ;)

I agree though, getting something you already have, especially if it's a book or movie, kinda sucks.
    :)

I must admit that books are a better fit for me than gift cards, there's no penalty for procrastination.

Lol, socks are the gift that screams, "I want to give you clothes - but I don't know your size".

They either scream that or, "I don't like you enough to buy you clothes, but you're decent enough for a pack of socks."

Lol, the gift that really isn't - brilliant!

Now let's try, "dude - where's my fruitcake?"

Hmm..though I usually try to appreciate anything people get me, sometimes it's pretty hard to feign gratitude. I used to hate those crappy puzzles and wooden bowling games. They almost always ended up getting shoved to the back of the closet and never being seen again.

That's one reason why I love the Amazon wish list. Now when my mom asks what I would like, I just send her the link.

I don't want a failure mark for my exams.
And I especially don't want someone close to me to die this holiday season a la Nick Massi and Peyo.

Wow, that's an interesting take on this theme.

I'm still at the "please don't give me a Hickory Farms gift pack" level, lol.
Hickory Farms no longer makes "Beef Stick Summer sausage", so I'll pass.
