The online learning sphere keeps getting bigger. Now the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, alongside Udacity and Coursera, (linked to Stanford University); are offering selected, free online college courses under the name edX.
Both public and private, as well as for-profit and not-for-profit, colleges and universities are under increasing cost pressures. As the year 2012 comes to an end the future of higher education is heading online.
All of these institutions are learning from the oldest online education provider on the web, and I don't mean Phoenix University. I'm talking about Western Governors University (WGU), established by the governors of 19 U.S. states waay back in 1997. WGU is fast becoming the benchmark among online offerings.
