Zen Champion 2 years 3 months ago Posts: 53	Unnecessary sequels are becoming a prevalent thing nowadays as more and more writers are beginning to lose the golden ability to be creative and show imagination. So here is a list I've come up with of sequels that really have no use at all... The Whole Nine Yards-Did anyone even like the first movie enough to even care about those characters??? Let alone even remember any of them??? The Never-Ending Story-Technically if the original is never-ending wouldn't a sequel to it not only be unnecessary but also destroy the reliability of the title. The Mask-I still can't believe there is a sequel created for this without Jim Carrey. Gremlins-It was good the first time, the second time not so much. Caddyshack-Oh remember Caddyshack and all of those famous faces from Saturday Night Live? Well here's the sequel without any of them in it! Hope ya like it! Mannequin-Ugh the first one has charm but by the second it's worn out! I'm sorry but William Ragsdale and Kristy Swanson are no Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall. Here's the Shocker! Die Hard-Yeah the sequels are good-it's a great franchise! But they're never gonna be able to top Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber as the villain.

pizzaman 2 years 3 months ago Posts: 28	A sequel could be perfect for showing imagination which movies like Toy Story 2 or Temple of Doom showed us. It's also the way we perceive the original that deems them unnecessary. Look at the Step-Up movies, 1st on was ok. No need for more, but people seem to like them, they keep making money. People like those stories. I want another National Treasure movie, but people may not agree with that.

Gremlins 2 was absolutely necessary, precisely because it took the first movie as foundation to build this amazing huge tower. The world was expanded. But after the studio tried to come up with a sequel without him, and failed, they went back to him and pretty much begged. To some others...first thing that comes to mind is direct-to-DVD Disney sequels. But that's kind of obvious. There's a reason they have no theatrical release. The later movies of The Matrix. I can't remember which is which between 2 and 3, but if you cut out the immense amount of crap you could probably have one pretty good sequel to expand and then wrap up the 'Matrix' story. The later X-Men movies. I don't have a lot to say about these, because I was in no way even compelled to see them. Truly unnecessary.

I love Pixar and the Toy Story trilogy, but the sequels they've been doing seem like cash grabs to me.

You want unnessary try Swan Princess Christmas on DVD but i ended up thinking it was good as the first movie although the format was changed to CGI animation

I think they're one of the few perfect trilogies in the past 20 years. I meant Cars 2, Monster's University and I read somewhere they're doing Incredibles 2 and Finding Nemo 2.

To be honest I did not even see Shrek Forever After after watching the third part. It's good as the third one but you are going to be disappointed on what they did with Rumpelsiltskin turned him into a short man with a lust for power over Far Far Away
