    		 I'm just wondering in your all's opinion, what was NES best year, for gaming releases.

    Personally I say 1989 because that's the year most of my favorite nes games came out were like Batman,TMNT,Faxanadu,Duck Tales, Mega Man 2...etc.

      		 Man, tough question. I guess I would say 1987. That year had about 55 NES games released. I call 9 of them great:
      legend of zelda; castlevania; punch-out!; kid niki; bomberman; gradius; mega man; ikari warriors; kid icarus

      1989 only had 8 great games in my book, out of 97:
      mega man 2; ducktales; monster party; shadowgate; tetris; adventures of lolo; adventures of bayou billy; marble madness

      1990 also had 9 great games. But that's out of 177 games released--way more than any other year.
      super mario 3; castlevania 3; double dragon 2; mega man 3; river city ransom; jackie chan's action kung fu; journey to silius; rescue rangers; snake rattle n roll

      The ratio is so skewed. 9 out of 55 total is much better than 9 out of 177.

      1988 was also a strong contender, but with only 6 great games out of 65, I had to pass it up:
      contra; double dragon; super mario 2; bubble bobble; bionic commando; zelda 2

      I got my numbers and years from here. You can sort the list by release date.

        1990 had the most releases, and the most good releases. There are some good games that came out that year that you didn't mention - Little Nemo: The Dream Master, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, Star Tropics, Super C, Crystalis, Dr. Mario, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior II, Adventures of Lolo II, Rad Racer 2, and Maniac Mansion.

        I'm seeing around 20 good games that came out that year if you include all the ones both you and I named off...and one of those games is "Super Mario Bros. 3", which is arguably the best game on the system, and one of the best games ever made. 1990 is hands down the best year of the NES.

Super Mario Bros. 3 was released as well as Dragon Warror II, Dr. Mario, Adventures of Lolo II, Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Clash at Demonhead, Crystalis, Destiny of an Emperor, Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Final Fantasy, Mega Man III, Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos, Rad Racer II, River City Ransom, StarTropics, Super C, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game and Time Lord.
